After finishing buying all he needed, Kaito called his name, and here they were talking.

"By the way, you live in an apartment, Kaito?" Shinichi asked, half shocked that Kaito lived in an apartment, but he figured it was normal if Kaito had just moved.

"Yeah, it's apartment; it's near here," Kaito stated, and Shinichi looked even more shocked because of how close his house was to Kaito's apartment.

"My house is also near that apartment. I guess that's the reason why we walked the same way that day," Shinichi stated as he began to walk, with Kaito following him, who just nodded at his statement.

"I guess you're right. Hey, Shinichi, if you don't mind, we should start going home together, if you don't mind, of course," Kaito stated with a grin. He quickly added the last part to make it clear to Shinichi that he wasn't forcing him, but he silently hoped that Shinichi would agree.

Focusing on his own thoughts, he did not notice Shinichi flinch when he grinned.

Shinichi looked away sadly, unable to help but remember a certain figure clad in white when he saw Kaito's grin; it looked really similar. Thankfully, Kaito didn't seem to notice when he flinched. His thoughts were interrupted when Kaito's voice called his name.

"Hey, Shinichi!" Kaito shouted, but not loud enough for everyone around them to hear. Kaito looked at Shinichi, who apparently looked sad.

"Ah, sorry, I just got lost in thought. And for your question earlier, I don't mind if we go home together," Shinichi stated, but Kaito wasn't convinced and decided not to push any further.

"By the way, Shinichi, what's with the hat?" Kaito asked, finally remembering that Shinichi was wearing a hat. Not that he was saying Shinichi wasn't allowed to wear a hat; Shinichi just didn't have any reason to wear one since they were currently inside a building, and it wasn't even sunny outside; the sun was covered by clouds. Unless Shinichi was hiding and didn't want anyone to know he was here or didn't want to draw any attention to himself. The question was why?

And just like that, he already had an answer to his own question: 'Is it connected to his disappearance for about a year? Could it be that he is involved in something dangerous? A stalker? Someone who wants to take revenge on him? He is a detective, after all; many criminals must have a grudge against him. Or maybe someone is trying to kill him?!' Kaito thought, panicking, Kaito put on his poker face, realizing he was overthinking.

'okay kaito stop your exaggerating, stop overthinking!!'kaito thought as he sigh and mentally slap himself.

"Ah, nothing, don't worry about it," Shinichi stated, clearly anxious. Kaito noticed this and wanted to ask if Shinichi was okay, but Shinichi didn't seem willing to talk about it, so he decided to let it go.

Kaito looked around, and there didn't seem to be anyone following them, or should he say, following Shinichi. He observed Shinichi, who appeared sad, and Kaito thought it might have been his fault for bringing up Shinichi wearing a hat. He also realized that Shinichi hadn't smiled once today, so he thought of a plan to cheer him up and make him smile.

"Hey, Shinichi, it's still early. Would you mind accompanying me to a cafe? I know a newly opened cafe here, and their drinks and foods, especially desserts, are delicious. But I think you already know since you've lived here longer than me," Kaito said as he made a blue rose appear and gave it to Shinichi, who accepted the beautiful rose.l

Kaito could see that Shinichi was hesitating, but in the end, he agreed with a nod. Kaito grinned as he grabbed the plastic bag from Shinichi's hand, offering to hold it for him. Before Shinichi could protest, Kaito grabbed his hand and pulled him as they walked. Kaito looked at Shinichi and grinned again.

"Let's go!" Kaito stated, still holding Shinichi's hand as they walked, his silly grin still on his face.

Meanwhile, with our detective, Shinichi's heartbeat quickened as he blushed at the contact. He looked at Kaito's hand holding his and couldn't help but blush more.

'Why am I like this?' Shinichi thought as he tried to hide his face using his hat and the hand holding the blue rose that Kaito gave him.

Hey, sorry for the late update. The truth is, when I was about to publish this chapter three days ago, I realized that my little sister, who borrowed my phone, deleted it.

This chapter was supposed to be longer, and due to my awful and terrible memory, I do not remember exactly what I wrote in this chapter. I do remember some parts, but still.

By the way, do you guys like my story?

And also, what am I going to do with Ran? I plan to use Kaito to fix her and Shinichi's "friendship," but I don't know how.

Just so you guys know, you're free to give any suggestions, though it depends on whether I'm going to use them. I still appreciate it if you do, as I always have writer's block.
