🌻 An NxReader Fanfic 🌻You knew your time was coming, but why did it come so soon??
staring up at the large lit mansion in front of you, it was then that you realized how scary it was.the crows curiously pecked around your feet, getting closer and closer over time, but not daring to get too close.Mud covered your dainty shoes, and the lace weaved into the hem of your dress. You wanted to clean it off, to stand up, brush yourself off, and stroll back inside, but you couldn't do it.leaning against the medium sized dead tree, you tilted your head to the dark sky.It was cloudy. It was always cloudy. You wished that the sky would open up, that the sun or the moon would peek through, even for only a few seconds.you wanted to see something other than clouds before you lost power.

today wasn't different from any other day. you powered on, after that same vivid nightmare-like memory, in the basement..
the musty, dark, dreary, basement.
You hated it down here, as it was always dirty, no matter how many times you deep cleaned it, it always managed to become dusty and covered in cobwebs when you returned the next night. you hated cobwebs the most.
they were sticky, and stringy, and just gross in general.speaking of cobwebs..
you snatched your feather duster off you belt, and dusted your face, wiping some cobwebs off of your visual sensors, then wiping the web off the duster and shaking it off your hand. You watched as the web slowly fell to the cement floor, then laid there.
what you hated more than cobwebs, were the small bugs that made them.Spiders.
You HATED spiders.
It's not that they grossed you out, no, it wasn't anything like that, you actually appreciated spiders sometimes. Like the times that their silk webs caught those annoying flies that flew around, buzzing loudly... what you didn't like was witnessing them catching something...
The bugs that get stuck in their sticky creations always struggle, always alerting the spider to them.. watching the spider wrap the still struggling insects into their lethal cocoons was horrifying.. you sometimes wondered what the victims felt.. you wondered what their dying thoughts were. fear? shock? regret? all of the above?
you let out an exasperated sigh, and turned the feather duster over in your metal hands.
over and over and over again.
it used to have pristine white feathers attached, but now they were all grey and gross.. then again, you had been using the same one for two years, so you weren't surprised at how dirty it was.as you stared down at the feather duster, the sudden sound of footsteps caught your attention, causing you to snap your head up and scan the dark room.
there was nothing in here of interest. a few boxes, some shelves, and extra furniture that was either broken or out of style.. you narrowed your eyes, before finally spotting the faint silhouette of another drone, and a very nervous drone at that.' N. what are you doing down here..? ' you questioned, clicking your feather duster back onto your belt, and stepping toward the familiar drone slowly, your shoes making faint clicking sounds every time they touched the cold floor.
' I uh.. saw you come down last night... and maybe followed you down?.. don't be upset though please!! I didn't mean any harm by it!! ' N seemed to be panicking a bit, as if he didn't think he would get caught doing this.. He fiddled with his robotic hands, lowering his head in what you assumed was shame..
You stared for a moment, then finally cracked a small amused smile, folding your arms over each other, before speaking in a calmer tone ' ..I'm not upset N, just a bit surprised.. Were you down here all night?? ' you questioned, raising a brow and tilting your head to the left ever so slightly. You were a bit touched that he wanted to follow you into this dark damp basement, but also a little concerned.. how long had he been following you around for to see you enter the basement?..
N seemed to nervously look around, and a bead of sweat dripped down the implanted screen in his face. he didn't seem too keen on answering your question, and instead laughed nervously, teetering back and forth on his feet. You hesitated, then sighed once again. You could understand how it felt to be curious, so you wouldn't pressure this drone anymore.
' You don't have to answer that if you don't want to.. I'm just being nosey..' You added, shrugging and brushing hair away from your face and smiling weakly. yes, you were a bit off put, but then again, N was new, and had probably grown attachment to you, so you understood. you were like that too when you first arrived. clinging onto Tessa as if the world depended on it..
He seemed a bit shocked yet relieved you didn't push him further for an answer, and gave a nod as thanks. you both stood there silently for a few minutes, before you turned on your heels and made your way towards the trap door that led out of the dreary basement. N scrambled after you, trailing behind like a lost puppy.
It was a strange sight to see two drones with completely different seeming personalities walking together. There was definitely a stark contrast between your confident walk, letting your shoes make as much noise as they could, and N's more silent walk, trying to keep his steps quiet. In a way, he almost didn't belong.. he was silent, but not in a comforting way, more in a very stressed way, that would make anyone around him weary..
It didn't seem to affect you though. You weren't very tuned in to your own emotions, or others emotions, as you were used to just being dismissed. You didn't pity yourself for that, because in your head, it made you so much stronger. You could be yelled at and have no negative reaction because you simply did not care anymore.
You kept walking at an average pace, discreetly glancing back at N, making sure he didn't trail too far behind and lose sight of you. He definitely hated it down here, but once again you couldn't blame him. It was horrid in the basement, and it really didn't match the rest of the manor's vibe.
You watched him for a little longer, then made a slightly worried face when he flinched back from the slightest sound. You just felt bad now. You held out your hand slightly, and he immediately grasped it tightly, not letting go.
You kept silently guiding him through the dark basement, your shoes clicking on the cement floor in a sort of rhythm. N kept up just fine now that he had your hand in his, although he seemed to be a bit flustered, as small blush lines were on his screen.
You abruptly stopped, almost causing N to bang into you. The trap door was directly above you, but the stairs you usually used were also pulled up. You simply sighed and let go of N's hand, doing a small hop and snagging the stair ladder in your hand, pulling it down in front of you both.
N watched you cautiously, then exhaled a sigh of relief when the stairs hit the hard floor. You dusted your hands off briefly then motioned for N to go up first. He was a bit nervous at first, but made his way up the creaky stairs with no issues.
You hurriedly followed him up the stairs, lifting the trap door and hoisting yourself out , along with N. Once you were both out you slammed the trap door shut with a loud noise echoing through the main foyer. N flinched back at the sound but seemed a bit less shaky now that you had left the basement.
Something was off about the house though. It was oddly quiet, and it was.. clean? Usually it's dusty in the morning, but it wasn't today.
Who else was cleaning?
Then came a voice from behind.
' giggles. '
Who ..
Another drone. A drone that seemed a bit more broken than you stood there innocently, with a tilted head and a duster in her hands which were behind her back.
There was another drone?
Why was there another drone.
