Eleanore: oh my god, admit that you googled it, Charles!
Charles: ok, mon amour, maybe... but she was so sick before, I had to know.
Charles sat with Eleanore in his arms, they had thoroughly exhausted each other from their day of sex and had decided to read on the sofa to recover and wait for their friends to return. It had been an incredible day, a perfect day, and Charles had loved every single moment of showing Eleanore how much he loved and adored her. When she came into the living room with Little Women and took her spot between Charles's legs with her back to his chest and his arms wrapped around her, Charles had asked which chapter they were on.
Eleanore: why?
Charles: just wondering. Oh god, 10 chapters.
Charles thought he had said the second part quietly enough, but Eleanore had caught it and he was well and truly busted.
Eleanore: why does Chapter 40 matter?
Charles: hmm? It doesn't.
He tried to play dumb, but he wasn't fooling her and she turned to face him. Her eyebrows raised, head tilted to the side and a slight pout on her lips told Charles that she was not buying his dumb act at all. He was going to have to do better than that or come up with a reason why chapter 40 mattered.
Charles: I like the number 40...
Eleanore: no, you like the number 7, you like the number 16... why are you preparing yourself for chapter 40?
Charles: Does something happen in chapter 40?
If he had thought pivoting this back on her would work – he had been mistaken. When he asked Eleanore knew for certain that he had googled.
Eleanore: you googled.
Charles: no I didn't.
Eleanore: yes you did... there is no other reason for you to worry about chapter 40.
Charles: I don't know what you are talking about...
Eleanore: oh my god, admit that you googled it, Charles!
Charles: ok, mon amour, maybe... but she was so sick before, I had to know.
Thinking that Eleanore was going to be annoyed at him for looking at what happens to Beth in the story, he put on his saddest face.
Charles: please don't be angry...
He hadn't expected Eleanore to laugh and then kiss him, her arms wrapping tightly around his neck, and her body shifting to straddle the young Monégasque, moving her hips back and forth slowly against him – eliciting a moan of pleasure from both. He returned the kiss, and his hands traveled down her body and onto her hips where he gripped them tightly and kept them moving. He suddenly stood up, with her legs wrapping around his waist, and carried her back to the bedroom.
Eleanore: how far away are they?
Charles: I don't know... I don't care.
The last thing on Charles' mind was when Kika and Pierre would return, all he could think about was how badly he wanted to make love to his girlfriend again. Half an hour later they were collapsing onto the bed breathless once more, with Eleanore cuddling into his arms as quickly as she could.
Eleanore: so you know what happened to Beth?
Charles: yes... I know I shouldn't have googled, but she's my favorite and when she got sick, I was really scared, I didn't want to be surprised if something bad happened. I am sorry. next book we read I won't google. I promise.
