The group were sitting under the tree, trying to shield themselves from the bright sun glaring on them. It was 9 PM and yet the sun was still up, refusing to let the night yield. It still lingered, casting long shadows that intertwined with the peaceful silence the group emitted along with the fading laughter from the hargans at the bottom of the hill.
Cathy sighed when a breeze of fresh air passed by her, mixed with the distant scent of wildflowers. She laid next to Pelle, who were sitting with his eyes closed as he faced the bright sky. Cathy followed him and stared above, but instead of closing her eyes, she admired the endless blue above her, enthralled by the azure canvas. It was beautiful.
Mark, however, found it terrifying. Cathy frowned when she heard him panicking while Christian tried calming him down. Cathy propped her elbow to find Mark looking at them all, he looked confused and troubled as he wondered why everyone were accepting the fact that the sun was still up at nine in the evening. Pelle, eyes still closed, spoke up and told Mark that it was just the midnight sun, and that this type of occurrence is completely normal. Mark was unfazed by his words, still feeling disturbed at the anomaly. "I'm not okay." Mark told Pelle. He sounded afraid, feeling like he's at the brink of getting sucked into a bad trip.
Cathy got concerned before letting out a big sigh, "Mark, just lay down and take a deep breath." He hesitated but eventually followed Cathy's words.
"Everybody else lay down." Mark instructed after a few seconds. Cathy was still propping her elbow, looking at Mark's laying figure with care. "Guys, do it. It feels so nice. Josh, can you lie down, please." Mark pleaded when he saw that his friends were still sitting upright. "Cathy, can you please tell them to lay down?" Mark begged at Cathy, fisting the grass desperately.
Cathy couldn't help but smile in amusement at how antsy Mark was behaving, one would think this was his first time trying magic mushrooms. She wondered what was running through Mark's mind to make him so anxious, what thoughts were troubling him so much that he felt the need to constantly reassure himself to avoid a bad trip.
Suddenly, Pelle began speaking as Cathy laid back down. "Can you feel that? The energy coming up from the earth? Look, the trees too, they're breathing." Cathy glanced up at the tree, her mouth slightly open as she watched it breathing, visibly swelling and deflating with psychedelic life. The grass seemed to dance in the gentle breeze, swirling with life. "Nature just knows instinctively how to stay in harmony, everything just mechanically doing its part." Pelle's words calmed everyone, even Mark as he slowly unclenched the grass beneath him.
Cathy felt enchanted. She couldn't help but smiled at how Pelle unconscious took care of everyone with his wise words and soothing voice. She reached out to touch his arm, gaining Pelle's attention who turned around to look at her. Cathy reciprocated his smile in a teasing manner before pulling him down next to her. Pelle's eyes widened at the sudden movement but did not complain when she started climbing on top of him, sitting comfortably while placing both her hands on his stomach. She kept quiet as she stared into his blue eyes, which had somehow looked more alive. Cathy was hypnotized, drawn to him.
Pelle didn't say anything as he looked back into his girlfriend's eyes. Feeling like he was in a trance, captivated by the view before him. He couldn't help but held one of her hands and tugged her forward, chuckling when she let out a squeal of surprise. "Payback." He whispered before capturing her lips. Pelle's heart thudded against his ribcage when he felt Cathy's smile against his lips, he was overwhelmed by the sudden surge of joy before turning them both around. She giggled as he buried his face deep in her neck, teasing her soft spot before resting there. Cathy let out a pleasurably sigh and wrapped both her arms around him, bringing him closer. They laid there with their legs tangled, melting onto each other's skin as they soaked in the warm buzzing of love they have for each other.
