"I thought you choose to reside only in The Hollow Earth since the war?"
"I did. . . Until I heard that my brother had finally woken up."
I scoffed and looked away. We were not brothers. Barely even cousins. Yet still the same genus so he wasn't exactly wrong.
"What do you want?"
"I was just. . . Wondering about you." He looked out at the water, frowning.
"If Morehu told you to come talk to me, you might as well go back home." I growled.
Dagu laughed. "I do not speak with Morehu. Although I do enjoy annoying him." He tried to meet my eyes. "I had a feeling you needed comfort. Like the Earth itself was telling me to come see you."
I growled and tried to sink into the ground. "You need not worry about me or my thoughts."
"Are you sure, sire? You seem troubled?"
I whipped my head around. "If I seem troubled, it is possibly because of my responsibilities as the alpha titan!" I snapped.
Dagu just frowned and cocked his head. "Then why are you not attending to your duties? Why are you instead staring at an insect kaiju's nest?"
I sighed. "Dagu. . . You never knew this. . . But this moth titan has been my ally and my friend for all time. She recently. . . Was killed. . . Because of me. I wait here for her. . . Hoping to somehow apologize when she gets back. But that will take 10,000 years." I closed my eyes sadly.
Dagu looked slightly happy and also confused. "Then. . . Why is she right there?"
My eyes flew open and I raised my head quickly, looking around. The silk cocoon was scattered around in ribbons and the moth titan climbed over the cliff, disappearing quickly.
"Mothra!" I stood, looking over the cliff but she was gone. I scanned the sky and groaned sadly. "You see Dagu. . . It is very likely she does not forgive me."
Dagu smiled. "That is not what I think. She flew south if you plan on catching up to her.
I took a deep breath and dived back into the freezing water.
* * *
I chased her all the way to (Chile) where I slowly surfaced. There was a gorgeous waterfall/rainforest landscape in front of me, with no humans anywhere close. I could sense Mosura behind the waterfall but I didn't have the. . . Didn't want to demand her to face me. I lumbered onto shore, my face even with the edge of the waterfall. I could see the outline of unfurling wings through the water. Water helped her wake up fully after the cocoon and made her wings grow faster to she could be ready to fight as soon as possible.
"Mosura?" I said quietly. A squeak was heard from behind the water and her small head poked out.
"Yes, my king?"
I backed up slightly. She was very close and I didn't want to make her feel trapped. "Is it really you?"
"Of course it is me!" She laughed. "I should be asking you that. . . You have changed quite a bit."
I looked back over my extremely spiky white dorsals and my new arm spikes. "Er. . . Yes I suppose so. . ."
She chirped curiously and stepped closer to inspect the arm spikes. I was a little surprised but let her. "Careful. I am sharp."
She chuckled. "I think I can handle myself Godzilla."
That title. That name. I hadn't even realized how much I'd missed it. How much I'd missed the kaiju in front of me. I leaned in and slightly nuzzled her wing.
"Godzilla?" She asked, definitely a little shocked.
"Er-" I pulled away sharply. "I-I apologize."
"Did someone miss me?" She cooed. She was teasing me. I mumbled angrily. "Hm? What was that? I did not hear you."
"I said I was sorry." I looked at her softly. "I was. . . At fault for your death. I became angry and. . . Violent in your absence. I made several foolish mistakes and nearly got many good humans and good kaijus killed. I waited at your cocoon. . . Trying to think of something to say to possibly express how grateful I am for your sacrifice. And how sorry I am that you had to do it."
Mosura looked sad, almost confused. She climbed onto my arm. "Gojira. . . I am always happy to sacrifice myself for you. I do not fear death."
I groaned sadly. "You are more important than that! You are worth more than that! You are more to me than just a-a shield or an excuse!"
Her demeanor softened and she inched a little closer to me. I let her and lowered my head closer to her as well. "I missed you as well."
I smiled softly and purred, resting my head right in front of her. "Welcome back. . . My queen."
She crawled onto my head and chattered happily. "I will take your advice and try to be less. . . Ready to die."
I exhaled and finally relaxed. "That would put me more at ease. Thank you."
"Anything for you. . . My king."
I rumbled in another purr before diving back into the ocean as Mosura soared off above me.
