I'll Be Better

DD sat on his bed feeling sad with Octavia Johnson III right beside him.

"DD, it's okay. He'll be yours. I'm gonna make sure of it." She says determined.

"Why do you care so much?"

"Because I like you, DD. As a person, not like that. I used to think that you were annoying, but now that I know you, I know that you aren't at all. You're caring, smart, and fun to be around. There's definetly more, but of I try to say them all, we would be here forever." She confesses.

This makes DD feel better, but also shocks him. "You really think that?" 

She nods. "Yeah. You're my friend."

DD smiles. He hasn't been complimented in a long time. "Thanks. That means a lot. I really appreciate it. You consider me your friend?"

She hugs him. "You're welcome and I do." She pulls away. "Let's do something fun."

"Like?"

"I don't know. Something. This atmosphere is not it. Let's like go on a walk or something." She suggests.

"That's not a bad idea. It might help clear my head." He gets up and wears a pair of slides. 

She put her shoes back on. They walk out of the house together. It is a sunny day with just the right amount of wind. They walk on the sidewalk ocasionally getting shade from the trees planted by it. 

"You actually think I still have a chance?" DD asks Octavia Johnson III as they walk.

"Yeah. You're a good guy and he's still not over you. His words seem like it, but his behavior says otherwise."

"Should I just give up?" DD asks feeling discouraged.

"Perseverance is key in life. NEVER give up." Octavia Johnson III motivates DD.

DD nods. "After all this is done what are you gonna do?"

"I don't know. Go back to normal, I guess." She shrugs.

"So be annoying again?" DD jokes.

"Shut up." She says laughing and then nudging him in the side.

"Truth hurts." He jokes referencing what she had told him earlier.

She playfully rolls her eyes. "You're so annoying."

 "Not as much as you though." He says causing her to try and hit him. He runs away and is chased by her. She catches up and hits him in the arm. 

"Okay, I'm sorry. I'm sorry." He playfully apologizes.

"You better be." She says laughing. They continue to chat, walking alongside each other. Their hands naturally come together as they walk.

When they come back into the house, they are still holding hands. They are greeted by Notti and Ddot who are sitting together on the couch.

Ddot can't help, but make a face when he sees them.

They both enter DD's room and sit on the bed. "That was great. I really liked it. We should do more things like that together."

"I enjoyed it, too. It was really fun." She checks the time. "Uhh. I gotta go. My mom's gonna be here." She gets up and heads for the door. She stops when she's in his doorway. "Can you come with me? I'm scared." 

"Scared? Of what?"

"Notti and Ddot. Like their hostile energy is so strong. At least Ddot's is. I don't wanna walk past them alone."
