I'll Be Better

Apologies

"Okay." DD says getting up. "I'll go with you."

They both exit DD's room and head for the door. They go outside and wait for her mom. They talk as they wait.

When her mom arrives, Octavia Johnson III turns to DD and says, "Bye, DD." 

"Bye, Octavia." 

She's about to start walking to the car when she once again turns toward DD. She hesitates for a second before giving him a kiss on the cheek. DD stands there stunned for a while.

He walks back into the house smiling.

MONDAY:

Ocatavia Johnson III was putting some things in her locker when she is startled by arms wrapping around her waist. She quickly turns her head around confused and a little scared. She sees that it's DD and lets out a sigh of relief.

"You scared me." She says turning her head back to her locker, continuing what she was doing.

He lets out a small laugh. "Sorry."

She turns fully around with DD's hands still on her waist. She gives him a hug. "Hey, DD."

"Hey, baby." DD replied making her smile.

She releases him from the hug and turns back around.

"Hurry, so I can take you to first. I don't wanna be late to my class today." He tells her.

"Okay." She rushes to put her things away. She finishes and turns around. "Let's go."

DD holds his hand out for her to hold and she takes it. They hold hands together walking to her first period. 

He hugs her before leaving to go to his class. She enters the classroom, smiling. She takes her seat next to Ddot.

"Hey, Octavia." Ddot says earning a side eye from her.

"Is there something you need?" She asks not wanting to take any of his crap today.

"No, I was just saying hi."

"Hi." She says back feeling confused and like this is an act or trick.

When she takes her seat next to DD in second she tells him. "For some reason, after you dropped me off in first, Ddot said hi to me."

"He did?" DD asks not believing it.

"He did and he was all nice about it, too."

"Why?"

"I don't know." She says turning his direction and recieving a wave and a smile.

"He just did it again." She says turning back around. 

"Really?" DD says putting his hand on her thigh.

She looks down at his hand and smiles at him. She turns back to her desk.

AT LUNCH:

Octavia Johnson III sits next to DD. She just places her head on his shoulder and holds the hand he isn't using.

She about to go on her phone out when Ddot sits directly across from her and Notti takes the seat next to him.

"What's going on? Why are you guys here?" She asks looking at the both of them.

"We just wanted to eat lunch with you guys." Ddot says.

She looks at DD, who is just as confused. 

"Octavia." Ddot says to get her attention. "I'm sorry. For everything. I'm sorry for calling you names and giving you looks. And everything else bad I did to you." Ddot apologizes.

Octavia Johnson III sits there in shock. "Uhh. Did you just apologize to ME?" She asks not believing it.

Ddot nods.

"Uhh. Thank you. I accept your apology." She says letting the shock pass over. "I'm sorry, too. For being rude."

"It's okay. I forgive you. Let's put it behind us." Ddot says.

They eat in silence for a few minutes until Ddot says, "DD. Can we talk? Alone. Privately." 

He looks at everyone at the table and stands up. Ddot leads him to a corner of the cafeteria near the garbage cans. 

"I know you're mad at me and that's okay. It's understandable. I want-"

"I'm sorry. For what I said. I take it back. I didn't mean it. I was just really angry and frustrated." DD interrupts, apologizing.

"So you don't think that I'm the problem?" 

DD shakes his head. "No." 

Ddot smiles, but it soon goes away."I'm sorry, DD. I'm sorry for using you and leaving you. I didn't realize, it. I didn't mean to. That was never-"

DD holds both of his hand and says softly, "I forgive you."

Ddot smiles once again. "Can we be friends again?" 

"Yeah. Of course." DD says smiling back.

Ddot happily pulls him into a big hug. "I missed you so much." 

"I missed you, too."

Notti watched from the table trying to not get angry. His teeth and fists were clenched.
