Crash and company took a good look at their surroundings. As Coco typed on her tablet, she confirmed that they were in the year 1717. To be more precise, they had found themselves in what was known as the Golden Age of Piracy.

The majority of the enemies that they had to face were, just as predicted, pirates, but they proved to be no match for the bandicoots and the masks. They eventually reached a pirate ship, but they were suddenly turned upside down and were hanging in the air. Not only that, but they had been separated from the masks.

"Aku Aku?" called out Coco. "Lani-Loni? I wonder what happened..."

All Crash could do was groan, as he saw no way to escape the situation. He started to believe that perhaps they were doomed.

"Hang on, guys! I'm coming!"

Coco glanced at her brother and asked, "Did you hear that?" Crash nodded in response. "That voice was...familiar."

"You're right," Crash agreed, "but I can't quite place my finger on it."

That voice! It's so familiar, and yet...

Her train of thought was interrupted when she spotted two marsupials hanging upside down in the mere distance. "Hang on, guys!" she called out, hoping they would hear. "I'm coming!"

"I wouldn't do that, if I were you."

She rolled her eyes and turned around, crossing her arms as she spotted a certain blue hybrid. "Don't you have anything better to do than to pester me?"

"Watch your tongue. Or would you rather see their deaths again?"

"You wouldn't..."

"Oh, but I would. My father ordered me to hinder your progress, and I shall not fail him."

The hybrid didn't wait for a response before summoning a tuning fork, successfully knocking her opponent toward the water with it. She looked down for a while and grinned mischievously before departing.

"Did you see that?" Coco asked.

"See what?" asked Crash.

"That...portal. I could have sworn I just saw someone familiar."

"I didn't see anything."

I know I'm not going crazy, Coco thought.

All of a sudden, the pirates surrounding them were disposed of and the bandicoots were freed. As they stood up, Coco began to thank their savior but stopped mid-sentence when she saw Tawna. Except...she was different. Her hair was much shorter and was blonde with blue streaks.

"Tawna?" began Coco. "But you're...different. You're not from our universe!"

"It's good to see you guys," said Tawna. "It's...been a long time for me."

"We lost touch in your universe too, huh?"

"Yeah, you could...say that."

"What, did we, like, die or something?"

"What? Nope! No, definitely not! So, how are things in your dimension?"
