"There's so much I want to say to you, but I don't even know where to start or how to explain myself. Just tell me anything that shows me you want to understand. Don't you want to know the truth?"

Y/N squinted her eyes at her reflection as she heard him speak. In fact, she did want to know. Ever since she saw his appearance, that's all she could think about. She wanted to know why and what led to this. And even though she didn't admit it, she craved the truth.

Drake sighed in resignation, knowing he couldn't force her to say anything she didn't want to. He sat in silence until Y/N finally spoke up, willing to start a conversation.

Y/N inquired, "Why did you leave?" She finally asked the question that had been on her mind for so long, turning her head to see his expression more clearly.

"My parents." Drake's voice was bitter as he adjusted himself properly on the seat. "They were busy with work and asked for my help in person. My parents are wealthy and run several businesses, so I assumed they just needed some extra hands." Drake gripped the wheel slightly, catching Y/N's attention. "The business had been in my family for years, and I was next in line to lead."

Y/N was intrigued by this news but didn't think much of it. What puzzled her was why they needed help if they had so many businesses already.

"Yeah, there was a lot going on. What else can I even say? My parents are manipulative, and I guess I'm a victim, as I always have been."

He took a deep breath, almost sounding annoyed as he explained the cause of it all. A small frown appeared on his face and his eyes narrowed slightly. It was clear to Y/N that there was more to the story. She continued to listen, not turning away or interrupting him.

"As a child, I always tried to meet my parents' expectations. However, no matter how hard I tried, it seemed like nothing I did was good enough for them. Even when I did well in school or tried to impress them with my achievements, all they seemed to focus on was preparing me for the future. They had high hopes for me, but their main goal was for me to take over the family business that had been passed down for generations. I guess they expected me to follow in their footsteps."

"Well... Did you?" Initially caught off guard by Y/N's question, his head turned towards her briefly. His eyes shot open for a second before softening, narrowing in thought as he seemed to be reflecting on something.

"Yes, that's exactly what I did. At first, I planned to stay for a week, but when I learned that your mother was sick, I tried to leave. However…" his words started to fade, almost hesitating. "… they didn't let me. Even though I tried to tell them that I wasn't ready to take over the family business, they didn't listen. I couldn't go against them because they took away my privileges and used their connections to limit my freedom. That's when I realized their true motives. Eventually, I was able to contact D/N and explain everything to him. But it didn't take long for my parents to find out about our conversation. Despite talking to your father and explaining the situation, I knew I had to follow my parents' decisions."

Drake narrowed his hazel eyes as he looked at the road. "And just like that, I eventually took over their business... just like they wanted me to." He sighed, lowering his head and closing his eyes while shaking his head slightly. "But... I'm finally here. I can finally see the girl your father raised in front of me. You're beautiful, a very beautiful young girl." He said in a gentle tone, his once annoyed tone weakening as he spoke those words.
