"You know we never did talk about kids." Lena says the next morning as she lays on top of you with her head on your chest and your arm around her waist.

"I know," you mumble. "I just figured that if you at some point decide you want kids that you would tell me." You tell her.

"So you don't care if we have kids?" Lena asks. "I am saying that if you want kids, then we will have kids. If you don't, then we won't. It's really that simple. You're the one that would have to go through pregnancy and labour if we decided to have biological children." You tell her.

Lena hums in response thoughtfully, tickling your neck slightly as she breathes out. "I wouldn't want to make you have kids, though." Lena says after a long pause.

"You wouldn't be. I'd be happy either way and I would love our kids the same that I love you if we were to have any." You tell her.

"That's reassuring. I really don't know at this point of my life, but if you ever change your mind in either direction, let me know so we can discuss it again." Lena says before placing a soft kiss on your cheek.

"Of course, my love." You reply, making her smile. "I love you." Lena says as she looks into your eyes. "I love you too." You smile as you connect your lips in a long, passionate kiss.

---

You spent the next week getting ready to leave, packing some of Lenas stuff and ordering a delivery for the stuff to be sent to Metropolis.

You went through your mental checklist once more to make sure you did everything you needed to. Now, the only thing left was to go back to Metropolis yourself.

You spent the last evening with the Luthor family, going out for a nice dinner and watching a movie together, before leaving the next morning.

You were going to miss the family, but you would visit them as often as your work allows you to.

Once you landed, you had planned on renting a car again until yours and Lenas cars got brought from National City to Metropolis, but instead Rodgers driver was waiting for you to take you back to his residence.

You travelled light as your stuff should be here by tomorrow anyway. As soon as you got to the residence, you went to see your uncle again. You still couldn't quite believe that you had family out there.

You took the opportunity a few days later to ask him about it, but unfortunately he said he was unaware of any other family as he was your dad's only sibling and he didn't know much about your mother.

You thought the news would have made you sad, but really, how could they when you lived your entire life under the impression that you had no family.

Maybe that was for the better you thought, as it seems everyone in your family is doomed to die at an early age. Your parents died in their 40s while your uncle is about to in his 50s.

The one main difference is that your parents chose their death through alcohol abuse while your uncle was just unlucky by getting an aggressive form of cancer.

You spent a lot of time at Rodgers' bedside recently. You could tell how fast he's getting worse. At this point, he was barely able to get out of bed with how much everything hurt.

You felt bad for him. This was definitely a shitty way to go. But there was nothing you could really do for him, other than stay by his side.

As days passed, reality really sunk in. It reminded you how fragile life really is and how it can end in the blink of an eye. It really made you appreciate things much more.

---

Just two days later, you were already getting funeral arrangements in order for your uncle. He requested to be cremated as there weren't many people that would show up for his funeral anyway.

His passing hit you with all sorts of emotions. You still couldn't even quite believe that he was real and now he's gone.

You only really got to know him for a month or so. You can't help wondering what your life would be like right now had you not gotten that call.

You were certain that you definitely wouldn't be moving across the country, that's for sure.

But it gave you a fresh start where you can work on your personal relationships and figure out what kind of people you want to be in life, as well as in the workplace.

The thought of going back to work seemed terrifying right now, but there would be some comfort to be found with small reminders of the man who built the company.
