The following days at Hogwarts were a whirlwind of classes, homework, and stolen moments between Harry and Draco. But the peace was often interrupted by Draco's simmering jealousy whenever Harry interacted with others, especially Ginny.
One afternoon, after a particularly grueling Potions class, Harry and Draco made their way to the courtyard for a brief respite. They sat on a bench under a large oak tree, enjoying the rare moment of calm.
Draco's eyes flicked over to where Ginny and some other Gryffindors were laughing and talking. He couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy as he watched them, especially when he saw Ginny glance over at Harry.
"Looks like your fan club is still going strong," Draco muttered, his voice laced with sarcasm.
Harry sighed, sensing the shift in Draco's mood. "Draco, they're just friends. You don't have to be jealous every time I talk to someone."
Draco huffed, crossing his arms over his chest. "It's not just anyone, Harry. It's Ginny. And she clearly still has feelings for you."
Harry turned to face Draco, his expression serious. "Draco, I'm with you. She's a friend, and that's all she ever will be."
Before Draco could respond, Ginny approached, a bright smile on her face. "Harry, there you are! I wanted to ask if you could help me with some Transfiguration homework later."
Draco's jaw clenched as he watched Ginny, his eyes narrowing. "Isn't Granger the go-to for homework help?" he snapped, unable to hide his irritation.
Ginny blinked, taken aback by Draco's tone. "Well, yes, but Harry's really good at Transfiguration too," she replied, a hint of defensiveness creeping into her voice.
Harry stood up, placing a calming hand on Draco's shoulder. "Ginny, I'll help you later, alright? Right now, Draco and I need to finish something."
Ginny nodded, giving Draco a wary look before walking away. As soon as she was out of earshot, Draco turned to Harry, his eyes blazing with frustration. "I can't believe she just interrupted us like that!"
Harry sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Draco, you're overreacting. She just needed help with homework."
Draco stood up, his fists clenched at his sides. "It's not just about the homework, Harry. It's about her always trying to get your attention. And you always being so nice to her!"
Harry stood up as well, his own frustration bubbling to the surface. "What do you want me to do, Draco? Be rude to my friends?"
"So you mean you don't get jealous, Potter?" Draco challenged, his eyes narrowing as he took a step closer.
Harry shook his head, trying to remain calm. "No, Draco, I don't get jealous," he said firmly. "I trust you."
Draco's eyes flashed with a mix of disbelief and irritation. "We'll see about that," he muttered under his breath.
Without another word, Draco turned on his heel and strode over to where Pansy Parkinson was sitting with a group of Slytherins. Harry watched, his stomach twisting uneasily as Draco leaned down to speak to Pansy, his voice low and his expression charming.
Pansy giggled, her eyes sparkling as she batted her eyelashes at Draco. She placed a hand on his arm, leaning in closer as they continued to talk. Harry's heart began to pound in his chest, a surge of possessiveness and jealousy rising within him.
He clenched his fists, trying to keep his emotions in check as he watched Draco and Pansy laugh together. The sight of Pansy's hand lingering on Draco's arm, her body language open and flirtatious, made Harry's blood boil.
Unable to stand it any longer, Harry marched over to where Draco and Pansy were standing, his expression stormy. "Draco, can I talk to you for a moment?" he said, his voice tight with barely controlled anger.
Draco turned to face Harry, a triumphant smirk playing at the corners of his lips. "Of course, Potter," he said smoothly. "Excuse me, Pansy."
Pansy pouted slightly but nodded, her eyes flicking between Harry and Draco with interest. "See you later, Draco," she said sweetly.
As soon as they were out of earshot, Harry rounded on Draco, his frustration boiling over. "What the hell was that, Draco?"
Draco's smirk widened as he crossed his arms over his chest. "That, Harry, was me proving a point," he said calmly. "You do get jealous."
Harry's cheeks flushed with a mixture of anger and embarrassment. "That wasn't funny, Draco," he snapped. "I didn't like seeing you with her."
Draco's expression softened slightly as he took a step closer to Harry, his hands reaching out to rest on Harry's hips. "Now you know how I feel," he said quietly. "When I see you with Ginny, or anyone else, I feel the same way. I just want you to understand that."
Harry took a deep breath, his anger slowly ebbing away as he looked into Draco's eyes. "I get it, Draco," he said softly. "But you don't need to make me jealous to prove your point. Just talk to me."
Draco nodded, his hands sliding up to cup Harry's face. "I'm sorry, Harry," he murmured. "I shouldn't have done that. I just... I needed you to see how it feels."
Harry leaned into Draco's touch, his own hands resting on Draco's waist. "I see it now," he said quietly. "And I'm sorry too. I'll be more mindful of how my interactions with others might affect you."
Draco's eyes softened, his thumbs gently caressing Harry's cheeks. "Thank you," he whispered. "I don't want to fight with you, Harry. I just want to be with you."
Harry smiled, his heart swelling with affection as he leaned in to press a tender kiss to Draco's lips. "I want that too," he murmured against Draco's mouth. "Let's just focus on us, okay?"
Draco nodded, his arms wrapping around Harry's neck as he deepened the kiss. "Okay," he agreed, his voice filled with a mixture of relief and determination.
