Clarke's eyes flick from Lexa's phone to the side of Lexa's stunning face and she scrapes her throat awkwardly before saying, "I'll give you some privacy to read that. I have to use the restroom anyway." But before she can get up, Lexa's slender fingers are wrapped around her thigh, stopping her in her tracks.

"No, stay. Please. This sort of is your business now too."

So, Clarke hesitantly gets comfortable again as Lexa clicks open the text from her former friend and partner.

Clarke reads the message, leaning into the brunette slightly, both for easier reading, and to be a little closer in case the latter needed some comfort

Clarke reads the message, leaning into the brunette slightly, both for easier reading, and to be a little closer in case the latter needed some comfort. She can tell that Lexa is holding her breath as she reads word after word, and she is sure Lexa rereads the message at least twice before she drops her hand that's holding her phone down in her lap and the screen goes dark again.

"How do you feel about that? The text, everything she said, just all of it?" Clarke finally asks after they have sat in silence for a while, wordlessly sipping their drinks.

"I appreciate her apologizing."

"But...?"

"But nothing. I mourn the loss of our friendship every day, but I am not sure if things could ever go back to the way they were before."

"It definitely wouldn't be easy. Would you like for her to be your friend again?" Clarke asks.

"No," Lexa immediately answers, then she hesitates. "Well... Yes. Maybe? I am not sure."

"You don't have to decide right now, Lexa," the blonde says in a soothing tone as she places her hand the other woman's thigh and gives it a small squeeze.

"I know," the brunette says resolutely. "How does this make you feel?" she adds, emphasizing the 'you'.

"This is not about me," the blonde quickly responds.

"It's not, but I'd still like your opinion on it. You're my... We are dating. She's my ex. I don't want to mess things up with you or hurt you by letting her come back into our life. If that's what I decide on that is."

A warm, fuzzy feeling washes over Clarke as she hears Lexa speak the words 'our life', closely followed by that familiar wave of guilt.

Knowing that Lexa may need a friend in her life soon, Clarke responds. "I know what she meant – means to you and how much she's done for you, and I'd never stand in the way of your friendship with her if you decide you want that back."

Before Clarke can say anything else, Lexa's lips are already on hers in a warm, sweet kiss.

"What was that for?" the PA asks once they break apart.

Lexa looks at Clarke with so much fondness that the latter almost wants to burst into tears.

"For some reason, that's exactly what I figured you'd say, and I know you aren't saying it for my benefit either. I know you mean it. That's why I... That's why you're you."
