As we start walking to the meeting spot, we get stopped a few times by fans of the game. It's a little weird to talk about it in such a positive way, but it wasn't too hard.
That's because none of them wanted to talk to me. Im sure I have fans out there, but why do most people dislike me?
Since we wasted so much time talking to fans, most of the class decided to just walk back to the hospital or continue shopping instead of waiting for everyone. Our group decides to just go back to the hospital since we're all a little tired anyway.
I walk behind everyone and put on some music while we walk. I start seeing notifications of a few groups saying they're already back at the hospital.
I try to have a good time since we have had such a good day, but for some reason I can't get the looks they gave me out of my head?
I think Shuichi notices, since he looks at me and walks a little slower to match my speed until he's next to me.
"Can I listen with you?" He asks, pointing to my earbuds.
"Yeah of course! Why?" I ask back handing him the right earbud.
"Do I need a reason?"
He laughs a bit while saying it. Not in a malicious way, but a sincere way.
If everyone hates me, at least he doesn't.
"WHY YOU GUYS LACKIN BEHIND?" Kaito screams from further ahead.
I didn't even notice how far we got from the group when listening to the music.
"Oh- uh! Sorry! We're coming!" Shuichi replies after grabbing my arm and rushing us towards them.
"What were you guys talking about that got you so distracted?" Kaede asks once we get closer to the group.
"Oh we're not talking haha, just listening to music!" Shuichi answers.
"Well hurry up." Maki says turning to us before continuing her conversation with Kaito.
After a few seconds everyone gets back into their conversation and me and Shuichi unpause the music.
He stares at me for a bit before smiling.
"I like your playlist! We actually have similar music taste.. which is surprising." He says continuing to smile.
"That's just because I played my super emo goth music playlist! I knew you'd probably like it since you're like an edge lord or something."
"At least you're being considerate? I wonder what your music taste is like then.." He puts his hand up to his chin and looks like he's focused on what he's thinking about.
I stare at him and can't help but smile a bit. Im glad I've made a friend like Shuichi, you know he actually cares about what you're saying and somehow always knows when you're upset.
Before I know it we arrive back at the hospital.
Maki and Kaito split up with the group while Kaede tells me and Shuichi to meet up at her room for a surprise at 8:30pm.
She doesn't tell us much more than the time and that we'll have fun and to trust her.
Since it's already 7:00pm Shuichi suggests we can hang out in his room for a little and play video games since his parents just got him some gaming setup thing.
I accept and on our walk to his room he talks about how his parents like never pay attention to his interests and just give him random stuff they think he'd like.
Once we get to the room we sit down on the floor and he goes to turn on the console.
"I don't have a lot of games, but im sure we can find one we'd both like!" he says bringing the stack to me and sitting back down.
I sort through the stack and light up at a specific one. "Roblox, Fortnite, sally face, COD, Fran bow, MINECRAFT!"
"Oh I've never played that game, I've seen clips of it though! Is it good?" He says grabbing the rest and putting them back.
"IS IT GOOD? Minecraft is literally like the best game ever."
"I'll trust your judgment!" He laughs and hands me a controller after putting the disk in the console.
The game screen opened and Shuichi starts to make a world.
"What should we name it??" He asks.
"Hmmm... how about... Kokichi's empire!"
"Uhhh, maybe not" he replied giggling.
"Wait I have an idea" Shuichi says as he starts typing the words 'mystery world'.
"Why mystery world?" I ask him.
"Because you're a thief and I'm a detective!" He replies and loads the world in.
We continue to play Minecraft for the next hour, building a house and finding diamonds and iron.
"We have like ten minutes left, do you wanna start getting ready for.. whatever Kaede has planned?" Shuichi asks me putting down his controller.
"I mean I don't have much to do, just wash my face and I'm probably gonna take my meds after."
"Im just gonna throw on some more comfortable clothes so you can use my bathroom!"
"Oh okay, thanks!" I reply watching as he starts looking through his closet.
I walk in the bathroom and immediately notice how clean it is, even for a hospital bathroom. It looks like he has barely even used it!
I start to wash my face and put my hair in a pony tail, then walk out.
When I walk out Shuichi is sitting on the bed and scrolling on his phone. He changed into a T-shirt and some long pj pants.
He notices the door close and turns to me. "You ready? Kaede has been texting me non stop for the past five minutes haha"
"Yeah! Let's go!" I say walking out the door.
