Chapter 20: Finish Line, Part 2

"I understand that you want to save Isaac, but Gertrax could come back and try to take what matters the most to you. Someone that matters the most to you."
Said Jared

"Lauren." Said Donnie

His mom and dad nod their heads.

"Isaac is happy with Macy. You deserve to be happy, son." Said Kathy

At Donnie's loft...

Donnie is thinking. Lauren walked in. He turned to see her.

"Your door was open." Said Lauren

She closed the door.

"What's up?" Asked Donnie

"Nothing. I want to know if you really want to let Gertrax go." Said Lauren

"If Gertrax goes back to time, he lets Isaac go. My parents told me that he'll go back on his promise." Said Donnie

"Do you want that?" Asked Lauren

"No. And I can't let Isaac get hurt."
Said Donnie

She walked over to Donnie.

"Listen. There are things that you should focus on. Protecting the city, everyone that in this city, and get married."
Said Lauren

Donnie turned to her.

"Lauren Morris-Callan. I'm not a fan of hyphenated names. Must be a 2035 thing." Said Lauren

Donnie sighs.

"Donnie, I couldn't stop thinking about you." Said Lauren

He turned to face her.

"Ever since we were teens, I couldn't stop thinking about you. When you found out you're an Alpha-human, I couldn't stop thinking about you. You're the only person I've been thinking about. And I know why. Because I love you." Said Lauren

Donnie smiles at this. He waited for this moment. For Lauren to tell him how she felt.

"Without Lauren Morris, there wouldn't be Fast-Dash." Said Donnie

They leaned towards each other. They closed their eyes and shared a passionate kiss. Once they've kissed, they looked into each other's eyes. Their foreheads touched for a moment.

Donnie's phone buzzed. He picked it up.

"I got their location."
Donnie said as he zoomed over to change into his supersuit.

Donnie was about to leave, but Lauren stopped him and gave him another kiss.

"I hope you make the right choice."
Said Lauren

"I already have." Said Donnie

Lauren smiles at him. Donnie puts on his cowl.

In a flash of orange electricity, Donnie zoomed off.

At the old research facility, Isaac has finished designing the time machine.

The machine has a cube-shaped design. There's a chair and a few buttons.

Gertrax examines the machine. He's fascinated by it.

"It's ready. I call it the Time Cube. All you have to do is set the destination you want to go to. When you've done that, it should take you home." Said Isaac

"Thank you, Isaac." Gertrax said as he nodded his head.

He walked over to the Time Cube.

He goes inside. He sits down on the chair. He had the destination set. The machine's door closes by itself. The machine started to lift up in the air.
