I didn't know that this story would make it to the top 1 in the rank. So, without further ado, this is the next chapter. Happy reading!
I vividly remember their pep talk, the talk of four cadets who had lost everything in their hometown. What they lost is similar but also different; one is their home and their family, and the other is their home that they cherish but also where their hell started. The two groups are on the same coin but have different sides of what they lost and what it cost them. But none of them has been more lost than me and what it cost me to become who I am now.
Reiner: I'm going to return to the hometown we lost. That's all I care about now.
Bertholdt: I chose to be a soldier in hopes of joining the Military Police so I could work in the safety of the interior. Why do you want to be a soldier?
Eren: I... I decided I had to kill them all. I have to slaughter all of the Titans with my own hands. I have to make them feel the same way as I have for what they have taken to me.
Reiner and Bertholdt seemed bothered by this talk when I watched them. For me, I understood, but at that time, he didn't know what Titans were. I was the first one who discovered their true identity, but I kept denying it, thinking this was all just a joke and a lie. Turns out that in the future, it's what I feared the most. It makes me want to go crazy and laugh at this cruel joke until the moonlight shines down on where they stopped as I saw the lake below where our barracks are located nearby.
Reiner: So your encounter with the Titans didn't break your will? You'll be able to do it. Eren Jaeger, was it?
Bertholdt: Say, I'm kinda sad he didn't come with us to appreciate this view.
Eren: Who? Y/n?
Armin: Oh, he's... complicated to open up with. I noticed that he rarely has any talks with us and only talks when he wants to be serious, make fun of everyone, or push buttons on everyone's feelings. All to motivate us to keep going.
Reiner: Did he ever tell you why he wanted to be a soldier?
Eren: I... don't know. Oh, but I remember that he mutters something like: "I need to do this not just to change this world but to reach out to someone who's been waiting and crying out to him..."
Armin: Reach out to someone? Is it one of our cadets?
Eren: Well, he didn't tell me about it. It all seemed like it was personal, and I didn't further ask him because of it.
Reiner: Well, whatever the case, if he's doing it for a change, then let's add him to the list of joining with us...
That talk makes me wonder, is there anything worth fighting for besides for one person I wanted to find? My freedom and peace quote is a tool only for me to fulfill my goal of reaching that girl, but is there anything worth fighting for in the future?
