The room was tense with anticipation as Rajveer sipped his coffee, the warmth doing little to dispel the weight of the conversation. All eyes were fixed on him.
"You all will go to Delhi," he said, his tone calm but firm.
Veer, who had been sipping his water, choked, earning raised eyebrows from the others.
"But why, sir? Can't we handle the case from here?" Aradhya questioned, her voice carrying the weight of everyone's unspoken agreement. Even though most nodded, Abhiansh remained silent, his thoughts elsewhere.
"It's not that you can't handle it remotely. But to solve this case properly, you need to be there, staying with the Rathore for their protection."
A soft sigh escaped Aradhya's lips, while Ruhaan, ever curious, couldn't resist asking another question.
"How many people live there? You know, since we'll be staying for who knows how long, it's better to be prepared." His nonchalant tone made Veer roll his eyes. Ruhaan's habit of inquiring about their accommodations was not new.
Rajveer, unbothered by the question, continued, "As far as I know, since Vihaan’s death, only his mother, Urmila, and Vikram live in the house, along with their younger son, Aksay. However, Vihaan's wife does not live there. No one knows where she is. After their marriage, Vihaan was very secretive about her. The last anyone heard, she was pregnant."
Rajveer's gaze shifted to Abhiansh, who had been unusually quiet, lost in his thoughts. Something was clearly off, though he hadn't voiced it yet.
Noticing his discomfort, Aradhya moved closer, sitting beside him. Her presence brought him back from whatever thoughts had been plaguing him.
"Kya hua, Abhi?" Her soft voice cut through his haze, coaxing a smile from him. He gently placed a hand on her cheek, caressing it absentmindedly.
"Kuch nahi, just... tired," he murmured before withdrawing his hand. Aradhya frowned slightly but didn’t press him, knowing he would talk when he was ready.
"Alright then, when do we leave?" Sanskar asked, breaking the silence. This time, it was Abhiansh who got up, his movements purposeful as he faced Rajveer.
"Tomorrow morning. The jet will be ready by 7 a.m. Be packed and on time," Rajveer instructed as he stood, signaling the end of the conversation. "I’ll inform Vikram about your arrival. Jai Hind."
"Jai Hind, sir," the team echoed in unison.
Once Rajveer left, Ruhaan collapsed onto a nearby chair, exhaling dramatically. "Another hectic day ahead. I need food."
