The way she spoke was very robotic, like she had been practicing for this moment. Her speech wasn't fluent or emotional at all, but you could tell Mary meant her words. You blush and can't help but smile like an idiot. It felt so good to hear Mary finally say something nice to you. The word "I like you" was confusing you a little though. Did she mean as a friend or?.... If she only meant as a friend and you misinterpreted it, it could ruin your friendship. You weren't sure what to say. Only once Mary stared at you, you knew you had to speak up.

You hug her tightly as she hesitantly hugs you back. Mary had told you how she appreciated you, like she wanted but.... Why wasn't she satisfied? She wanted more, but what? What more could she want of her friend?
Mary decided to not think about that and just focus on the upcoming game. She hugged you for a little longer, taking in the scent of your perfume, not wanting to let go.
She finally let go and took a step back. She gave you her usual confident smile.

You nod and walk after her as the two of you leave the classroom. You knew the two of you would win it, especially since Mary's words gave you much needed confidence. As long as you'd be with Mary, everything would be okay.
The two of you walk into the classroom the next gamble was held in. Yumeko and Ryuji were already there. Yumeko smiled at the two of them. You smiled back a little. Even though Yumeko was your friend, you were ready to beat them, no, utterly destroy them.
