The routine Ulbert had adopted since arriving in Hell was rather simple and easy to follow; he liked spending very little time on working or physically exerting himself, which meant he had the entire day to himself. The Demon Lord travelled around, barely requiring genuine sleep due to his magical items, wandering to different shops around Pentagram City's lower districts.
However, today was NOT a usual day for Ulbert.
To start things off, he awoke inside a small room with a single bed and red blankets. Faded wallpaper, covered in roses and yellow weaves that had been torn from the wall, effecting the overall mood. Ulbert realised he was inside a hotel room, a plethora of memories from the previous day entering his mind.
Zestial, the sinner he met less than twenty four hours prior, had been a great conversationalist before the Demon Lord left with his usual confident stride towards wherever the road took him. After their pleasant engagement, he decided to check out how some of the other suppliers in Hell were performing in terms of quality and visual appeal.
The man wandered the drug-infested streets for what felt like hours before a random hotel came into view. He used his magic to survey what awaited him inside, accepting the atmosphere, and the sauntered inside with immaculate confidence. The workers had little reason to stop him due to his clothes and movements making them assume that he was a powerful and rich Overlord.
Ulbert was welcome with open, nervous arms, shown the best room in the hotel, and then spent some time thinking about an assortment of different ideas in regards to his future in ruling a region of Hell before succumbing to sleep -- the single bed was much nicer than he had expected it to be, although he was not used to real beds and high-quality furniture being used in his own space.
"Now, here I am...." He chuckled to himself, not imagining a time when he could live in such an environment. It spoke volumes about the state of his own world, especially in the lower class districts where he lived in toxic wastelands and ruined towns, remnants of the third World War ravaging all areas of the land like a sickening tumour of nuclear energy.
He pulled the covers from his furred body and planted two demonic hooves against the carpet, rubbing his snout with a single hand before doing the same with his eyes. Instant relief washed over him, helping to keep him awake to start the day. Not that he had much in the ways of necessities.
Ulbert snapped his fingers and summoned his blackened cloak, wrapping the cloth around his form, and then cast one of his utility spells to clean himself before advancing towards the exit. He opened the door, wandered down the hall towards the reception area, placing thirty souls upon the wooden desk as he left through the main entrance. He took a deep breath of hellish air and laughed.
"Aaah, another dreadful day in hellish paradise." He joked as demons wandered past with scowls and torn clothes, a common sight to behold when venturing the underworld.
The Demon Lord continued his walk through the streets as more and more sinners came into view, likely waking up to begin their usual commute. He watched as people began a large fight in the middle of town, also a common sight, the crooked asphalt becoming stained with fresh blood and an assortment of flesh-chunks.
"Oh well, not my problem." He said, uncaring.
Fifteen minutes of walking, and the Goat Demon had been drained of whatever curiosity had compelled him to leave his hotel room early; the scenery was the same as it always was in Hell, buildings crumbling as the people screamed, a thunderous echo from constant gunfire and explosions. An unimaginative sight these days for Ulbert, who barely even registered what most humans considered to be monstrous.
He considered looking for a place to relax, have a drink of coffee and take in the shades of red, but found himself the victim of a sudden attack. The nearest building exploded, a powerful shockwave rocking down the streets and leaving both the Demon Lord and the sinners utterly baffled; such firepower was rare, unless facing an Overlord.
