"All bark, no bite." Felix rubs my thigh while I mumble over my breath and continue my music and doodles.
By the time the bell rang, signaling the end of class, Felix teased me out the classroom and smiled before going to his group, making me roll my eyes and go to mine near our lockers.
"Why are you so happy?" Mae swears and squeals as I start shaking his shoulders and squealing myself.
"Fox, don't kill my baby brother."
"What the fuck happened to you?" Maxi turns me around and starts shaking my shoulders.
"Felix asked me to hang out,"
"You're lying," Maxi stops shaking me and looks at me with the most you better not be lying or I'll kill you face.
"I'm not, he suggested the idea to me during 3rd period."
"Is that why he texted me asking for your number?" I side eye Joseph trying to avoid my gaze, "I didn't know you still playing hard to get."
"Please, Fox needed to give the kid her number always." Kai squeezes my cheeks as I whine and roll my eyes,
"Joseph did you a favor, chica."
"I mean, I guess she did. He had to have my number somehow,"
"See? I could be a wingwoman," Joseph bumps my hips, causing me to smile a little,
"Whatever, I'm going to class. Enjoy math, I'm 99% sure we have a quiz today, but I don't pay attention in the class, oportunidad." I look at Mae with his hood on, playing with the pinky ring he always has, "Mae, you okay?" We're all met with silence as Joseph scoffs and pats Mae's arm, who looks up at her with the most serious face I've ever seen him have.
"Fox was talking to you,"
"What?" Mae pauses his music and looks at me with the softest expression that almost makes me cry.
"I was only asking if you were okay."
"I'm fine,"
"Uhh, we should go, before we're all late." Maxi smiles and tries to lighten the mood, "Leggo, love you two." Maxi holds me and April's hand, who grabs on Kai's, and start walking to English as I hear Joseph ask Mae if he was actually okay.
I hope he is.
