you let out a sigh as you watch your call go unanswered for the nth time. your boyfriend wasn't picking up your calls and you'd been waiting for him at the park for what seemed like decades (it'd really only been an hour). your finger hovered over your boyfriend's contact as you thought about whether to dial him again. taking a deep breath, you pressed the phone icon on your phone screen and waited for the call to go through.the sound of your phone ringing had begin to annoy you. it was so loud, screaming in your face that yuuji had ghosted you once again. you swear you would hear the ringing noise in your sleep that night.
your phone then started vibrating, a sign that your call went unanswered. you played with the strings of your black hoodie (it wasn't yours, it belonged to your childhood best friend but he gave it to you so technically it was yours). you stood up from the bench you'd been seated on and shoved your phone into your pocket. as a last resort, you decided to go to your boyfriend's house.
the walk there was quiet. the time was about 7pm and the sun had just started to set. august wasn't a fun month, summer was your least favourite season. in your opinion, there was no reason for daytime to last so long! you groaned, squinting your eyes as the rays of sunlight were directed straight into them.
the walk would've been nicer if you had a certain bastard (read:boyfriend) by your side.
for a second, you thought you had mixed up the date of your hangout but after checking your calendar on your phone multiple times, you were sure you had the correct date.
approaching the terushima residence, you noticed your boyfriend's bedroom window's blinds were closed but you could vaguely make out 2 silhouettes behind the blinds. weird, you thought but you brushed it off. maybe your boyfriend had relatives over?
you slowly regret your decision to go to your boyfriend's house as you approach his front porch, opting to drag your feet across the cement floor instead of walking normally. once you'd reach the door, you raised your hand to knock the door but put it down swiftly.
did you made the right choice coming here? your lips formed a thin line and you blinked at the door, letting out a deep breath before knocking twice.
you could hear shuffling behind the door and the clanging of pans— mrs terushima, or yuki was home. the door creaked open and you were face to face with your boyfriend's mother.
"good evening, yuki-san. were you making dinner when i knocked? i hope i didn't cause any trouble!" you really started to regret your decision now. you didn't miss the way the older woman furrowed her brows and pursed her lips when she saw you. "y/n! it was no trouble, really. don't worry. are you here to get your stuff from yuuji?"
'get my stuff? did i leave something important behind the last time i came here? come to think of it, the last time i was here was months ago.' your thoughts were quickly interrupted when you heard giggles coming from inside the house.
"i don't remember leaving anything behind, sorry. yuuji and i were supposed to meet about an hour ago and he isn't picking up my phone calls. i was wondering if he was home?" mrs terushima furrowed her brows even more. she grimaced when she realised what was happening. "yuuji has a girl upstairs, said she was his new girlfriend."
oh.
oh.
you wish you could say you appreciated the lady in front of you for being honest. but right now, you really wished she'd told you a white lie. the drift between you and your boyfriend began to make a lot more sense.
you weren't sure how to react. you just stood at the doormat, staring blankly at mrs terushima. now you really wished you thought twice before speaking in a singsong manner. "that's awkward."
