The public eye of Chicago was not the point of this matter. By the time Cade, who picked up his mini me after the confess, kept walking hand in hand with his kid. The city air didn't help him much as you squeezed his hand, trying to calm him down from the unexpected news of a lifetime. Tessa was always some sort of trouble. Neither expected this to be the outcome, not in this type of situation.
"I failed as a father."
"To her but not me!" He didn't seem to let go of your hand, trying to reassure him the best you could, not happy with the secret at all "Tessa...I don't know. She shouldn't have done this so soon..."
Once the light turned green, the two began to walk around more, crossing the road of this rambunctious city, a steady speed to walk side by side.
"When did you find out?"
Your smile slims, eyes towards the fluffy clouds, so many fluffy clouds "Today. At the gas station, I found it before she did anything else with it."
Cade hums. At some point, the two strolled into the park, and childish laughter filled the park as pets bark chasing toys thrown by their owners. It was lively. That will do for now.
"I'm sorry."
Cade looks down to his kid, the one who hasn't back stabbed him yet, confuzzled by your apology "Waite? Why are you sorry, sweetie?"
"For not telling you about it sooner." You say, eyes on the kids playing now, avoid your own dad's eyes "And the sword, I really love this sword dad. I'm sorry.."
Out of his two children, he never had a favorite. He loved them both. Yet, with Tessa's situation, he seemed to see who loved him for him and not just a bank for survival.
He sighs, shoulders less tense, able to breathe like a normal human could, just held onto the hand of his dear child. One thumb caressing the back of your bitty size hand.
"I can trust you with my secrets, can I?" That made the small child look up, think about it, before nodding for him to continue.
If he is telling you a secret, especially from him, it must be a serious topic..
"You know how much I love your mother. Talk to her like she is here with us. Day by day.." Cade went ahead to pick up his child, holding you in arms, confessing his little secret "..You think love can die after you part yet...yet it is a stepping stone of the next step in your life."
"Dad?"
"Mhmm?"
"Are you...in love with someone?"
He nods, chuckling a tad too hard for your reaction, which is a mixture of bamboozled and shell shocked. It's a cute, adorable reaction.
Now you wanna know who, begging to know "Dad, who? Who is it??"
He grew nervous, his kid wanting to know more now "I-I...shit..man look at those fluffy clouds--"
"Is it Optimus?"
That shut him up. Even the name itself made him stop walking, eyes avoiding yours, and a massive pink tint rise on his face. He'll. He was sweating cold sweat.
To be honest, this was unexpected. Mostly coming from your dad. His reaction says a lot about his feelings.
"You're my dad, and I love you lots! And I ship it!"
Cade blinks once, no three times, as his kid hugs him. His face less pink as he felt better a tad more. It was tolling on him physically, mentally, and almost emotionally. He really needed this talk and hug.
"Wanna head back?" He asked, an immediate nope from his kid who supports him, the two resumes walking through the park.
Each enjoying their peace and father daughter time...
