Note: SORRY I FORGOT TO MENTION IN THE ANNOUNCEMENT... I guess this is also sort of angsty/dramatic? Hehehehe... uhhh... also, Modern AU.

Ganyu POV:

The music is blaring loudly, the sound waves hitting me in the chest. I am attending my parents annual party with everyone in the neighbourhood, "isn't this great Ganyu?" asked my twin sister, Meili. I bit my lip and avoided her gaze. Because we are twin sisters, that has always been an invitation for comparison. Yes sure... I was pretty, smart, elegant and tried hard in everything but... my sister was that, and more. She was talented, thoughtful, and always took the initiative in things, and her beauty had a special glow that I could never replicate. "Mgh..." I grumbled before slipping to the back of the crowd as the band onstage continues to play, I bent down near the rubbish bin and started to pick up all the bits that have fallen out, I guess this is a way to pass the time.

"Oh Meili! What beautiful eyes you have, I can see you got it from your mother" a passerby says to my sister as she giggles like a school girl whilst thanking them profusely, I cursed under my breath. "Blah blah blah... Meili this, Meili that..." I was beginning to lose my shit. I've dealt with this for years already, I'm surprised I haven't snapped yet... but I could feel my sanity slowly slipping. Soon, my parents took the mic and asked for everyone's attention, instead of looking in their direction, I continued to pick up the bits of rubbish off the ground. I knew what was coming. "Thank you to you all for attending this special event tonight! Minghua city wouldn't be the same without all of you!" my mother was wearing a tight fitting black dress that hugged her figure, she had gone to the tailors to get it specifically made for her, small stick on diamonds clung onto the edges of her dress. "However... tonight the attention is not on me nor my husband, but on my daughter who represented us in the Chinese archery competition and won first place for womens and 2nd place overall! Please congratulate her as she comes up to the stage to share a few words!" my mother steps aside. I did not move, even though my sister and I were in the same team and we competed together, I knew my mother wasn't referring to me. Meili however, instantly marches onto the stage with a winning smile before taking the mic from the stand, "thank you thank youuu... please hold your applause! It is only my honour and pleasure to be representing our community in this competition, I do hope that I can continue to represent us as a whole! What motivated me most was the reason why I wanted to do archery in the first place, I want to inspire young girls to have courage and participate in activities while you can... take that leap! But of course, I wouldn't have done all this without my dear mama and papa who has strongly supported and cheered me on from day 1, without them... I wouldn't have persevered through training, I wouldn't have had the motivation to be going to these huge competitions and most of all... I wouldn't have been who I am today. I have learnt confidence, perseverance, and discipline..." I rolled my eyes as she continued to drone on and on, but I couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness and annoyance as I watched my mother gushing at her on the sidelines, my father looking on with a proud gaze as he squeezes my mother's shoulder.

After the party ends, I head home grudgingly with my sister as she smiles so brightly, I think it'll blind the world. "You head in first... I uh, gotta deal with something" she pats the top of my head before heading off down the street, my eyes linger on her for a few brief seconds. Her manner of walking is very abnormal, it's nervous... quick... and stiff. "Ah Ganyu... why are you standing out here? It's freezing, your sister has already gone in" my father says as he carries the bags of rubbish out from the car and into the neighbourhood rubbish bin across the street. "Hold on father" I said as I started walking down the street and around the corner, my head frantically turning left and right, where is she? Despite her always one upping me, I've never actually hated her before, it was just annoyance. I still care about her, I still worry about her. Besides, she's never rubbed it in my face that she's the favourite too, so I didn't really have any right to hate her. "I told you! Give me a few days!" I stopped in my tracks and pressed my body against the brick wall as I slowly peeped into the small alleyway, I couldn't see anything clearly but I could see the shadow of my sister and... the shadow of a man. "Are you kidding me Meili? I spent 2 days on your plastic surgery operation and you still can't pay me? Even 6 months after treatment?" the man growls as he takes a step closer towards my sister. I wanted to reach out and pull her away, I wanted to intervene but my feet were frozen in place. When I finally composed myself and peeped again, their voices were quieter... maybe they have moved further down the alleyway? I could still hear the quiet murmur of their voices, but I could no longer make out what they were saying. I pulled out my phone and hit record, even if I wasn't going to get anything that could be made out, it's better than no evidence. My breathing heavy and ragged as adrenaline rushes through my body, what was my sister doing with that man? When did she get plastic surgery? Did she get plastic surgery to one up me? Is she really that desperate for validation? All the questions clouded my mind until...
