CHAPTER 12

"We need to talk about this thing personally. Meet me tomorrow." The man said and then hung up the phone.

Mikhs left his phone on his room and decided to go back to his friends.

"Who was it?" tanong ni Maloi.

"Si dad." Tipid na sagot ni Mikhs dito.

Fast forward to morning, Mikhs head is aching badly dahil napa dami ang inom nito. He woke up with a note beside him. It was from Loi.

Good morning Mikhs! I left early today. Aiah and Staku invited me to go for a jog. I'll be home after lunch kasi we'll go somewhere pa. I prepared breakfast! Take care!

Mikhs smiled when he read the paper. He then checked his phone for messages and saw that he got few messages from his friends and from his Coach or let's all say his father.

Nobody knows that Coach Lester Lim is his father except for Cole and his best friend Kobie. He decided to be discreet about it dahil ayaw niyang magka-issue dahil alng doon.

From: Coach Lim

Meet me at my office.

Mikhs immediately got up and took a shower para makapag handa na papuntang school nila.

He doesn't have a single idea about the things that they will talk about that day. Kung hindi lang importante ay hindi na sana siya pupunta.

He went downstairs and ate the breakfast that Maloi prepared for him before leaving the house. He drove his way to school at agad namang dumiretso sa opisina ng coach nila.

"I'm glad you're finally here." Coach Lim said.

There he saw his father and his teammate Cole at mukhang seryoso ang dalawang ito.

"Usual business. Let's make this quick." Mikhs said before sitting down.

Coach Lim and Cole are giving each other looks habang humahanap ng bwelo si Coach para sabihin ang balita kay Mikhs.

"Uh Kael. I really don't know how to tell you this but Kobie won't make it this season." Coach Lim said while Cole is just attentively listening.

"I know it's hard for you to lose a teammate lalo na't I know the two of you already prove that you are worthy to become part of the team." Coach Lim added.

Mikhs was just looking at his father while listening to the words that he's saying.

"Can you just tell me the reason why we're here?" Mikhs said.

"Mikhs I've decided na I'll let you sit out for the first elimination round of the season." Coach Lim said.

"What?!" Mikhs said in disbelief. Napatayo ito at halatang galit.

"Pare this is for your own sake. Just please listen." Cole said and tried to calm Mikhs first. This time he is sincere with his words and actions.

"Don't call me pare hindi tayo mag kaibigan! Coach are you out of your mind?!" Mikhs said and slammed his hands on his Coach's table.

"Mikhs I don't think you'll fit to play if you'll listen to the words na sasabihin ko sayo." Coach Lim while looking straight at his son's eyes.

"Please? Let me protect you this time Mikhael." He added.

"Ano bang sinabi nitong Vergara na to sayo ha?! Why are you kicking me out again?!" Mikhs furiously said.

"Mikhs Kobie passed away last night. He didn't tell you but he passed away, he wanted me to tell you na he just sprained his ankle but the truth is he's been battling cancer for a while now." Coach Lim said.
