Cold, dark, and fear...that's the only way I could explain what I was feeling at that very moment..fear of the unknown. I woke up on a cold, hard floor and I looked around to find myself in a small cell. The lights were flickering on and off. Blood splattered on the walls. It smelled rusty and foul. There was no bed and there was a toilet in the corner of the cell. I could hear faint voices down the hall while I laid there alone in my own mind. I started to tear up, realizing my family is gone and I have to face the entire world by myself.

I balled my fists and I started to burn with envy. I stood up still lightheaded from the eventful night I endured. All of a sudden, I heard heavy footsteps getting closer and closer till it eventually stopped and there was a shadow under the door. I backed up against the wall ready to defend myself. The door creaked open and a tall figure entered the cell, towering over me. As the figure stepped into the lights, a middle aged man stared down at me with a blank expression. He was well groomed and had a lab coat covering a majority of his body. I looked up at him with anger in my eyes, yet confusion at the same time. Where was I and what could he possibly want from me??

The man then said "do not be afraid of..my child."

  I looked up confused and I said "who the hell are you and where am I!?"

The man said to me that his intention wasn't  to hurt me and that he wanted to perform various tests on me. I thought to myself, "Why me? What could I have possibly done to deserve this?"

The man told me to follow him, so I did. We walked through the corridor and I saw a giant laboratory. It was filled with many gadgets, tanks, and other people undergoing different tests. I looked around in confusion and continued to follow the man through the halls..so many unanswered questions going through my head.

We came to a stop in a room. The room had a bed in the center, similar to a bed that may be found in a dentist, and cabinets on the side of the room with different chemicals and tools. He had me sit on the bed while he performed some tests on me. After a couple hours passed, he finished performing the tests. I felt dizzy and weak once the session was over. He had me go back to my cell and I laid on the floor, falling asleep almost immediately.

A couple of hours later, I heard whispers coming from the cell next to me. It was a girl trying to get my attention. I sat up and looked at her with a sense of curiosity. She was gorgeous. She had long blonde hair, blue eyes, and she had a smile that lit up the room. She told me to get closer and to not fall for their traps. I asked what she meant; and she explained that all of this is an act and that this place is evil. I needed to escape this facility before it's too late. I asked her with desperation in my eyes why I was there in the first place. She explained that I have special abilities; just like every other test subject in this building. I attempted to ask her to elaborate, but suddenly, we heard footsteps approaching my cell. The girl quickly fell silent and told me to meet her during lunch time for further information. After a few more tests, the next thing I knew was that it was time to eat.

  I sat down at the table in front of the girl from earlier who talked to me from her cell. She introduced herself as Emily and pointed to the two guys next to us, Chuck and Leo. Chuck had brown hair with brown eyes; and Leo had black hair with glasses and green eyes. I introduced myself as Destiny. I then looked at them and tried to ask for more information on these "special abilities".

  They told me to lower my voice and explained that they hunt for people just like us all over the world. They explained that in order for me to be here; I must have special abilities and I take a moment to think to myself. "Do I really have special abilities? If so what are they? Why wouldn't my parents tell me about it?"

   I dusted myself off and continued to listen to them. Emily told me about her ability to teleport but she was forced to wear a device around her ankle, blocking her powers so she can't escape. Chuck told me about his super strength. He explained that he hasn't tried to get out of here because the place is packed with guards and cameras. No matter how far he could run from this place, they would always be able to track him down.

  Leo explained about his Laser vision. He has a hard time controlling it and he's scared to use it cause he doesn't want to hurt anyone. I think to myself, "maybe this is my chance to escape." Sure, it's a big risk and anything can happen on our own. We are weak, but together, we will be strong enough to break out of this place and help all of the other test subjects.

  I looked at Emily, Chuck, and Leo, and told them I have a plan. From that moment, we formed a close alliance and discussed our escape plan. We have been at this place for years now, causing us to grow stronger until one night we finally got the chance to escape.

We were all admitted to this place when we were around ten years of age. We spent years being tortured and experimented on. Although it's been like hell in this place, it still gave time for us to grow closer.

   Emily was always the person you can run to for help..she reminded me of my mom.

  Chuck was almost like my dad. He was humorous and sweet.

Leo was layed back and kind of like the father figure of the group.

As much as I started to really love them...not everything lasts forever.
