"It's pretty weird we keep running into each other, huh? I mean I didn't exactly think I'd be seeing you again after our interaction in the town earlier" Y/n broke the awkward silence as the two began their walk to the small town. "It is weird..." Ray tilted his head, looking at the girl beside him. "Do you think it means something?" Y/n chuckled to herself. "...I doubt it" "Oh yeah. For sure...""So...have you and your father lived here all your lives?" Ray asked, changing the subject as he tried to warm his cold hands by rubbing them together. "Who Alex? He's not my father, I moved in with him over a year ago...though I can see why you thought that. He acts like a protective Father all the time" y/n smiled, shaking her head. Ray looked at the girl, eager to hear more, for an unknown reason why...deep down he felt quite interested.
"You know...the reason we live at the top of the hill is because Alex is terrified of intruders" sighed the girl. "This place is out in the middle of nowhere, wouldn't that make an attack unlikely?" Asked Ray, puzzled. "Well during the war the town was destroyed and his family were taken away from him...he sits out on the porch every night incase the intruders ever came back, I feel bad for him...one day he lost all his family and friends...but that's why I got scared when I saw you walk up the hill at night" y/n explained with a shrug. "That makes more sense now...thanks" the boy nodded, staring at the town in front of them.
"It's fine...but no more questions about me, I've a lot to ask you!" she pointed to him with a bright smile. Her enthusiasm and warmth was enough to make a small smile creep onto anyones face even for Ray. "What's your family like? Where do you come from?" She asked, as wonder filled her eyes. "It's a very long story...are you sure you want to hear it all?" Ray sighed, recalling his intense past and childhood.
"Mhm! I want to hear everything! It gets boring when you know everyone in this town...it would be nice to hear some fresh stories for once" y/n pointed to the small houses in the distance, smoke soaring from each chimney. "And if that wasn't enough we don't see a lot of tourists either" "I'm not exactly a tourist. I'm actually looking for someone with my family" explained Ray, peering down at his boots which dug deep into the snow with each step.
"Like a mission to find a missing person?" The girl tilted her head with curiosity. Ray clenched the cold cloth he was given tightly. "Yeah...you see we-" "Woah!! Look at all the stars!!" The (h/c) haired girl gasped, the nights sky had caught her attention completely. The beautiful sky was full of glowing golden stars. "They look amazing!" she sighed with excitement and joy gazing at their heavenly presence in the dark sky.
"Have you never seen the stars before?" Ray asked, noticing how the subject had changed completely in just three seconds. "Never...well...not that I can remember of" y/n smiled awkwardly. "Do you not go outside after it gets dark?" "Nope. I'm not aloud to, you know...incase any intruders come back and decide to kidnap me. It's one of Alex's rules. 'never go out after nightfall'...but tonight is an exception of course" the girl sighed with slight annoyance, rubbing some snowflakes away from her rosy cheeks.
"They are so beautiful aren't they" she giggled, glancing at the boy to see if he was interested in what she was talking about. "They are" he answered, looking up at the little golden stars.
Y/n smiled grabbing hold of Rays arm. "Well Let's get you to your family...I'm sure they are looking for you"The pair eventually made it to the adorable little town. Locals laughing and chatting under the glowing street lamps, the only restaurant in the town bustling with people, the sound of dishes and forks clattering could be heard all around and the sound of faint music and cheering echoed throughout the street. "Woah I've never seen the town in the night! It's so...alive?" The girl giggled in awe of her surroundings.
The pair stood under a street lamp near the beginning of the street y/n only knew only too well. The glow of the lamp being their source of light. "So...is your family gonna meet you here?" Y/n shivered, holding her small lantern close to her chest. "I'm presuming. Emma is probably worried but knowing Norman he's probably laughing right now, out of all of us I got lost..." Ray looked up at the lamp, shaking his head. "Norman? Is he your brother? And Emma, is she your sister?" Y/n asked. "Yeah and if you do meet them don't ever dream of telling them you hit me with a frying pan. I don't think they would ever let that go" groaned Ray, face palming himself.
