After a few hours of catching up and messing around, the night began to turn cold, Kakashi put his jacket over me and walked me home. Stood at the door, I pulled off his jacket and passed it to him "Would you like to come in for a drink? Naruto should be in bed by now." I asked Kakashi and I could see a slight pink tint escape his mask.
"Umm, no I should be getting home. Maybe some other time though." He said looking away from me and he took back his jacket.
"Alright then, well thank you for tonight Kashi, it was wonderful." I thanked him, quickly giving him a small kiss on his covered cheek. I then turned to head inside. He stood there frozen looking at me, blushing a little red. "Goodnight Kashi." I smiled to him before I closed the door.
"Goodnight (Y/n)." I heard him bashfully say before he started to walk away. I took my shoes off and walked into the living room, but I felt a familiar presence.
"Iruka? What are you doing here?" I called out into the darkness of the room before I flicked the light on. Iruka sat on the sofa with a perplexed expression.
"(Y/n)... he failed again..." Iruka's words made my heart sink. Yet again Naruto had failed the graduation exam. "I asked him to make a clone. Just one good one... and he couldn't." This time it really was on his worst jutsu. He's never been able to get the clone jutsu right.
"I see... that is the one he struggles the most with. His chakra balance isn't very well managed." I admitted as I sat beside him on the sofa.
"I've been trying to help him but every time he makes progress he goes and gets himself in trouble again." Iruka huffed as he massaged his temples. I couldn't help but smirk.
"Oh come on Iruka, think about it. Naruto isn't so different from how you were as a student. Don't think I've forgotten how you were." I stated making him pout at me a little, but I only smiled at him sadly. "Naruto is a lot like you ya know. We lost our parents, I'm not around all the time to raise him, and other people absolutely hate us for seemingly no reason." I explained and he looked down into his hands sadly. "He's hurting inside Iruka... he's not one of those students that you can punish and expect better results after. He needs affection and understanding to be able to progress. He needs to know that you personally understand him."
SLAM!
"(Y/n)! It's Naruto!... Iruka? What are you-... it doesn't matter. Naruto has taken the scroll of seals!" Mizuki burst in through the front door. I immediately body flickered to Naruto's room only to see he was gone and his window was wide open. Damn it...
The hunt for Naruto began. I had an ill feeling about Mizuki, I've never liked the man. Since I met him a few years ago, I've hated him. He seemed to try to get all too friendly with Naruto and I and it bugs me. "Iruka, if you find Naruto before I do, give him this." I told him as I handed him one of my small modified kunai with the flying thunder god inscription on it, though it had one difference, I altered it so I could identify the chakra of the person holding it. So I'll know the moment Naruto has it. He nodded to me and set out with Mizuki.
I got myself changed into appropriate clothing before I went off in search of Naruto myself. He couldn't of gone far. He wouldn't. Then again, Naruto has no reason to want that scroll. He doesn't even know what it's for. Something about this whole situation feels wrong. Very wrong. I'm missing something...
I leapt across rooftops and headed towards the forest. He always headed there when he wanted to be alone. Iruka knows that too.
Just as I thought that I felt the kunai alert me that Naruto had it now. I used the flying thundergod technique and teleported to him. He was bounding through tree tops. "Naruto, what are you thinking?!" I nearly yelled at him. I startled him and he almost fell from the trees, I caught him and pulled him up onto the branch I was on, but he immediately attempted to hide. Not from me though. From someone else. "What is going on?" I asked him more quietly, having read that he was in danger.
