LUCAS'S P.O.V.

It's been 3 hours since we tried, and failed, to jump into hyperspace. We were still orbiting Aureon, thankfully.

Scott, who was directly behind my seat, was still frantically going through different spacecraft systems. None of us could figure out why the jump failed, and why it almost killed us in the process.

“Have you heard anything back from mission control?” Asked Vita.

“No" replied Avera, still fidgeting with the radio. “Are you sure this isn't broken?” She asked, looking in Scott's direction.

“It could be,” responded Scott, “The long range antenna might have been snapped off with all the stress”

“What about the short range antenna?” Asked Michael.

Avera sighed, “It's not giving us anything either.”

Scott undid his seat harness, “We are going to have to do an EVA and check it visually”

“Alright, I'll let you guys do that” Avera said, “And check for any other damage”

“Will do.” responded Scott, “Follow me Michael, you are helping.”

Michael undid his harness as well and pushed himself out of his seat. Together Michael and Scott puledl themselves over to a ladder at the bottom of the cockpit.

They both went down the ladder to the airlock, which opened on the bottom of the EX-5.

MICHAEL'S P.O.V.

I went down the ladder and entered the EVA bay that is below the cockpit. It's a cramped little room with a couple eva suits and a door to the airlock.

Scott and I started removing our Flight suits. I took off my gloves, boots and everything else until I was only in my jumpsuit.

Scott detached a white EVA suit from the wall and proceeded to put it on, and I did the same as him.

The EVA suits are similar to our flight suits. The only difference is the flight suits aren't as reflective, and they can't carry as much oxygen as the EVA suits.

I put on the legs, then the torso. Followed by that I put on my boots, and then gloves. I grabbed the helmet and put it on as well.

“Comm check.” I said, making sure the microphone is working in the helmet.

“Loud and clear.” said Scott.

“And we have you guys up here,” said Garrett.

“Alright, we're going to go out now.” said Scott through his mic.

“Confirmed,” Avera replied.

Scott twisted open a small knob on the airlock door, and then the door opened outward away from us.

The both of us made our way into the small airlock. Considering I'm a larger protogen, trying to fit in an airlock with a bulky EVA suit on is not my definition of a fun or easy idea.

Anyhow, the both of us still managed to fit in the airlock. Scott closed the door and sealed it shut. “Get your tether attached,” he said.

Wiggling my arm down, I clipped one of the white tethers from the wall to my suit.

“Ready?” Scott asked, ready to depressurize the airlock.

I turn my head and look over at him, “yeah.”

Scott tapped panel on the side of the airlock, with a faint hiss the airlock depressurized.

I shuffled my arms forward and unlatched the outside door, swinging it outward.
