Never, in her life, has Lexi felt so down on a podium. After this catastrophe of a race, she couldn't even feel proud of herself. She still heard Johny's voice in her head. She couldn't shake the feeling that she betrayed her team and, more importantly, Carlos.
Even though she got 3rd place, she didn't feel like she earned it. After all it was supposed to be teamwork, but she ignored team orders an plans which resulted in nearly giving Toto a heart attack. But still, she got podium, so was it really that bad? She was internally torn between her own good and what was considered the best by her team.
While everyone was celebrating Lewis win, She decided not to ruin it for him and stay in her driver's room. She sat on the couch mentally preparing for her talk with both, her boss and Carlos. Lexi didn't know how to feel about the whole situation, let alone she knew how the Spaniard felt.
"Okay Miss, why are you not celebrating?" Noella's voice made her jump. As the brunette, alongside Louis, entered the room she let out a frustrated sigh "I know that you're a perfectionist, but a podium in this sport is a dream for some people, ask Norris, he's desperate to score some points"
" Okay, not in a mood for sarcasm" the boy cut in seeing Lexi's stare "The point is, you should celebrate, you're on the way for the championship" the two students sat on both sides of her, making her stand up immediately.
She started pacing angrily back and forth. Noella and Louis looked at each other, they knew they couldn't do anything right now, Lexi was just too angry to even think straight.
"It's not that, guys, I made a terrible mistake and Toto is gonna kill me the second he sees me"
"You're right about that, but you still ended P3" for her seemed like Noella didn't understand what possible consequences waited for Lexi for what she did, but on the other hand she was right. The girl did her job and scored as many points as she could.
Why did everything have to be do complicated.
"I don't want to talk about it right now, please. I don't even know what to think anymore" the blonde sighed "Rick is probably gonna call me to talk about it anyway, when he watches the race in the morning"
"He didn't watch it live?" Louis was visibly confused. Rick always watched Lexi's races, no matter the time or place and when he could, he attended them in person. It was very unusual for him to miss one.
"He texted me saying he's not feeling well. He went to sleep" Lexi explained "He's been like that for some time now, I'm trying to convince him to go to see a doctor, but you know how he is. He won't go there unless, he's on the verge of dying" she chuckled lightly. She was really worried about her uncle, he wasn't getting any younger and certainly his health also wouldn't.
"Hey, don't worry about it now" Noella seemed to be reading her mind "You have a podium to celebrate. Let's go out there and prove all the haters wrong"
"I have no energy to pretend to be all happy and smiley right..." a knock on the door interrupted her. Before the blonde could say anything else the door opened reaveling her manager.
