A deep sigh of resignation echoed along the deceivingly innocent oak wood walls. Not many would ever find out the absolutely despicable things that went on behind those pristine white doors. They would never know of the bodies that littered the floor or of the blood that flooded this place. They would be none the wiser of the souls lost.

None of that seemed to dissuade the young juvenile from leaning on the wall, eyes darting around to the other three people in the room with him, his eyes slightly narrowed as he tried to gleam details on their oh-so 'private' conversation. It obviously had something to do with him, why else would he be here?

Hushed whispers cloaked the room, the loudest of them all being his father. If you were talking to him for the first time, his words would sound like a blur of consonants even though his Glaswegian accent wasn't as strong as it used to be. Having been around him for half his life, regrettably, Aeron had learned to decipher what he said most of the time. His low, rough voice being one Aeron would never forget no matter how much he wanted to.

Aeron quickly shifted his gaze, wanting to focus on any thing but his father's muscular physique, until he made direct eye contact with deep hazel eyes staring right back at him.
The mans stare almost seemed to take him apart, peering into the deepest, darkest depths of his soul, a stark contrast to the gentle, almost unnoticeable smile tugging on his lips. It was unnatural and off-putting, like the quiet that smothered the air around him. The silence was a symphony of unspoken words between them, a language hardly unfamiliar to Aeron as he wasn't much of a talker, this time, however, it was different. He found himself freezing in place, he couldn't move even if he wanted to. The conversation of the other two guests blended into background noise. He was hyper aware of every nerve in his body. The impulse causing slight twitching of his index finger. Even from this distance, Aeron was sure the man could hear the frantic rhythm of his heart against the stillness.

It took everything he had to tear his gaze away from the unblinking stare of the young man. And he was still tempted to look back, to prove he wouldn't be defeated so easily. To prove him wrong. In the corner of his eye, he could see the man lean further into his plush, leather chair, his smile slightly wider than when Aeron first laid eyes onto his intimidating visage. He radiated confidence even when looking out the window while cleaning his glasses, no wonder he was chosen to be in charge of this place at such a young age. He was a man you shouldn't underestimate.

His female counterpart couldn't be any more different. After catching sight of her by looking over his fathers tall frame, he couldn't help but feel an unnatural calm wash over him. Perhaps it was her genuine smile or the way her voice danced like the leaves on a summers day that caused him to instinctively relax. Something about her was just so calming, he couldn't put his finger on it. He wondered if she was aware of the effect she had on people. He must have been staring for a while as not even a moment after that thought, she smiled at him, eyes wrinkling at the corners. She was about to wave before she was suddenly dragged back into the conversation. She had been quite distant from it so this came as a surprise, her face didn't let that show however, sliding in like she was always a part of the discussion.

"Hmm. Is that so? If this continues, we may have to pair them up." The young man with glasses was now leaning forward, sunlight reflecting on his brown hair and the ring adorning his index finger.
"That may be for the best, for both of them." The woman now had a neutral expression on her face, her eyes closed as if in thought.

"Are you saying my son needs a handy-cap? I'm sure he just wasn't trying hard enough. He doesn't need to be lumped in with those subordinates!" Alastair-pardon-Silver folding his arms and gripping his biceps so hard it would definitely leave a mark. Aeron was watching all this go down, he couldn't hear much because of distance but he discerned he was to be paired up with someone. He didn't know what was more annoying, that or the fact his father had to physically restrain himself from breaking the desk in front of him. How mature, right? Such fatherly behaviour.
I sure hope he wasn't taking out those frustrations on his wife. Oh wait.
