TW: Sun x Eclipse (?), angst, hurt/comfort. The timeframe is back when they had Eclipse trapped in an employee hallway. I also might make an Eclipse and Earth version of this lol.

Sun inwardly groaned at the thought of having to monitor the employee hallways, because it meant that he would eventually bump into the one person who had ruined his life.

Eclipse.

But, he had to do it, unfortunately. Fazbear was hosting an event and they needed a friendlier face to keep the children away from their employee spaces.

Sun sighed, choosing to walk into a random hallway. He almost backed out when he heard someone shifting around, signaling to him that this was where they had trapped Eclipse.

He stopped, though, when he heard something else.

It sounded like...crying?

But it didn't.

It was like a scratchy, rasping noise, like Eclipse was trying to cry but had run out of tears to shed.

Could Eclipse even cry?

Sun contemplated what to do. Should he announce himself?

He might as well, it's not like Eclipse could get through the barrier anyway.

"What are you doing, Eclipse? Are you...crying?" Sun asked. The question came out a bit...rougher than he had intended, but he refused to correct himself.

He heard more shifting as Eclipse looked over the playmat standing between them. Eclipse didn't have any visible tears, but his face was twisted into a cruel sneer.

"What are you doing here? I don't recall inviting you to mock me some more." Eclipse growled. Sun just stared as Eclipse processed him some more.

"And there you go again, pretending that you care," Eclipse scoffed, turning his gaze away from Sun. "When just beneath the surface, you're convinced that you're above me."

Sun frowned. "Well, dig deep into the past, because I've never been one to do things by halves. If I care about someone, I'll care forever, even if they reject my friendship for some power."

Eclipse barked a laugh. "You think you're a hero?" Sun was taken aback as Eclipse continued.

"They'll tell you you are~ Oh, so stoic and handsome? And that you've come so far~"

Sun suddenly understood what was happening. He played along.

"...You think you're a villain. But I know you're not. Because under all that angst and anger-"

"Is a 'dying, broken heart'." Eclipse snapped. He stood up challengingly.

"What about the lonely little me? What about how you shut me out to die? You never came to save my world. What about me?" Eclipse spat. Sun's rays shrank slightly.

"I see that you're upset, and I know that we were wrong-" Sun started.

"Oh, you know nothing about me."

Sun continued on. "But trust me, and believe me, being petty won't stop the hurt for long. You don't need to end like this!"

Eclipse rolled his eyes. "Here comes the hero complex..." he muttered. "I know I'm a villain, but we know it's you who lies-"

"You think that you're the villain, but I can see through your disguise!" Sun countered.

"So, you're back at it again, twisting and manipulating every word I say." Eclipse hissed. Sun looked away.

"C'mon you know that's not true..." Sun turned back to face Eclipse. "I'm just trying to help you. Let me help you!"

"You are not my hero!" Eclipse broke. The darker sun looked away. "You don't know how it felt. What else could you have done with the cards that I've been dealt?" he muttered quietly.

"You are not the villain...you could've been my friend..." Sun murmured. Eclipse looked back at him, gaze hardened.

"Turn around and get out. Sometimes things don't go as planned." He held Sun's gaze evenly. Sun stared back for a moment before eventually turning around and leaving.

Eclipse watched the daycare attendant leave before slumping against the wall, putting his face in his hands.

And, after multiple lifetimes of holding it in, he finally shattered.

That fateful employee hallway was where Eclipse shed his very first tears.
