Eventually making our way into the castle. She stops and knocks on a door.
"Excuse me, Professor Quirrell, could I borrow Wood for a moment" Professor Quirrell jumps as he answers the door, nodding and fetching Wood. Who walks out and looks at us confused. "Potter, this is Oliver Wood. Wood...I've found you a Seeker."
I stare at this exchange in shock. First-years are usually allowed to play quidditch. Wood smiles at McGonagall before nodding at me.
"what about her?" Referring to my black and yellow colors.
"She is a different case.." She mutters, leaving me to wonder if I may be able to join my team early too.
As It turns out. I did. She brought me to Professor Sprout as she was the head of Hufflepuff. They were in need of a chaser, which was allowed to be filled by me, McGonagall saying I was amazing and fast. Not a seeker but definitely had talent. I mean, Not to brag or anything. But when I wasn't helping Mother or doing chores, I would fly around catching and throwing a ball. Seems like that came in handy.
-Later-
I was walking along with Potter. Both are excited about the news. When Hermione and Ron joined us. We told them the news and they seemed happy for us too.
"Seeker! and a Chaser! But first years never make the house teams. You guys must be the youngestQuidditch players in-"
"-a century. According to McGonagall." Potter brags. I nod along happy. Then two older redheads join into the conversation.
"Well done, Harry. Wood's just told us" Fred says.
Now I like most, have trouble differencing the two Weasley twins but eventually, I had come up with a way to tell. Fred has a mole on his right cheek, while George doesn't.
"Fred and George are on the team too. Beaters" Ron explains to his brothers noticing Potter's confusion. To which he nods in understanding.
"Our job is to make sure you don't get bloodied up too bad. Can't make any promises, of course. Rough game, Quidditch." George winces, chuckling at Potter's expression.
"Brutal. But no one's died.in years. Someone will vanish occasionally..."Fred trails off, leaving George to jump in and finish for him. "But they turn up in a. month or two." With that, the twins grin and leave. I giggle at their obvious words to concern Potter. Ron reads Harry's troubled face.
"Oh go on, Harry. Quidditch is great. Best game there is. And you'll be great too."
"But I've never even played Quidditch. What if I make a fool of myself?"
"You won't make a fool of yourself." Hermione chimes in. Ron and Harry turn to look at her. I glance over as I'm walking next to her. But based on their faces, I could tell they just noticed her now. "It's in your blood."
Hermione leads us to a display case. Inside is a history of Quidditch at Hogwarts, with ancient brooms, strange equipment, and various trophies. She points. Etched upon a silver tray, below a Gryffindor lion, one name shines: James Potter, Seeker.
"Harry...you didn't tell me your father was a Seeker too."
"I...didn't know."
We then make our way back to where we entered from. Hermione and I make small chats as we walk.
" I'm telling you, it's spooky. She knows more about you than you do." I could hear Ron whisper over at Potter.
"Who doesn't?" He replies sighing.
Then the staircase we were on moved, causing us to stop and hold onto the rail. It moved and led us into a very dark, very creepy corridor.
"Umm, this doesn't seem right" I mutter out.
"Yeah it feels like...we're not supposed to be here" Ron whimpers
"We're not supposed to be here. This is the Third Floor. It's forbidden." Hermione stresses, obviously worried about breaking the rules.
"Why, though?" Harry questions, obviously intrigued.
"Because Dumbledore said so. Let's go." As Hermione finishes speaking, We hear a meow and freeze. We look over and see a cat and hear footsteps.
"Who goes there!" We hear Filch call out. We quickly go down the opposite way and turn to a door. Potter tries opening it and fails.
"It's locked!" He whispers distressed.
"That's it. We're done for." Ron whimpers scared.
"Oh, move over. Alohomora!" Hermione waves her wand and enters, we follow suit. "Standard Book of Spells. Chapter Seven." She explains, smiling at Potter's and Ron's amazed expression. I giggle and thank her for saving us. Hermione presses her ear against the door and I watch. I glance around the room, notice the dark atmosphere, and see a large shadow.
"Chapter Seven?" Ron muses
"Shhh! Filch is...gone." She says hesitantly.
"He probably thinks this door is locked."
"It was locked." She huffs annoyed. I squint my eyes and notice the large shadow moving. I freeze up unsure of what to do.
"And for good reason..." Potter trails off also noticing the moving.
Hermione and Ron turn. Standing a few feet away is a dog... Onlythis one has three heads, three pairs of mad, rolling eyes, and three sets of hideous yellow fangs dripping withsaliva. The dog roars, and we tumble back outside and Potter flings the door just before the dog throws itself against it. We all exchange a glance and dash off.
We run and I split ways from them and go to the Hufflepuff dorms. I make it back and slam my door, scaring whoever was inside. I lay in my bed, panting. My kitten, whom I have named Willow, came over and laid herself down on my chest. I then see an owl at the window closest to me, I get up, softly pushing over Willow and grabbing the letter. It was holding two. One was addressed to Bones and the other to me.
I lay hers on her desk and open mine, sitting back on my bed,
'Dear [y/n] Abbot, Tomorrow you must join me on the quidditch pitch to go over game plans and basic knowledge. Looking forward to meeting you! Sincerely, Quidditch Captian, Cedric Diggory.'
I smile at the letter, excited to start training. I have played quidditch before with some of the pureblood children at "meet-ups". So I won't have to learn everything new.
With that, I got ready for bed and slept dreaming of tomorrow.
