Mattheo Riddle x reader

Isabella potter was absolutely furious

her baby brother had fainted on the train ride to Hogwarts and she had found out from the gossiping Marietta. 

"HARRY JAMES POTTER" she thundered rushing across the steps to the castle running in the direction of her brother. "my izzy, I knew you loved me but damn I didn't know you couldn't go one train ride without me" was the sarcastic retort she received. "WHAT HAPPENED ON THE GODDAMN TRAIN?????" Harry could tell she was worried as he sighed."it was nothing, a dementor entered our compartment and got too close to me so I fainted" he muttered quickly embarrassed still at having fainted. 

she hugged him. as much as his lives-as-if-he-has-infinite-lives complex annoyed and worried her to bits he was the only family she had left and she was filled with relief knowing the dementor hadn't fazed him.

"im sorry I didn't mean to yell I was worried harry" she says surveying her younger brother with blue eyes synonymous to the colour of the black lake on a stormy night. "hey im alive" harry says jokingly lightening the mood.

 before Isabella could respond there came an unmistakable voice behind them. "heard you fainted on the train potter?" followed by guffaws which really sounded like a bunch of lambs awaiting imminent death. "atleast he doesn't have to bleach his hair white to get anyone to pay him attention which subsequently does not even work" she retorts as Hermione, Ron and harry burst out laughing ignoring the fuming bleached hamster in their vicinity. 

Isabella ruffles her brother's hair one last time before hurrying to the Slytherin table to her friends. "harry ok?" Maddie was always the first person to question about the wellbeing of her brother close as they were. "yeah he's alright just a little shook I think" 

"I wouldn't blame him this dementor thing is awful business it feels like being in a prison, watched the entire time." shudders Theo as he shoots a glance at the dementors through the castle window to where they stand guard.

before anyone can respond a line of first years walk in with Mcgonagal in tow and the sorting commences

"it is scary isn't it? Sirius black on the loose?" Isabella comments tucking into her roast potatoes making small conversation. "yeah I wonder how long until they catch him so they can remove these nightmares and I can freely visit hogsmeade without them staring at me for getting too much candy and judging me" proclaims blaise making everyone laugh. "goddamn zabini way to ease the air." I gasp between giggles. 

"man I wonder what kept pansy and Priscilla, they weren't on the train." speaks up Maddy referring to their best friends pansy and Priscilla Parkinson. they were twins, Priscilla was in the same year as the group except Draco who was in the same year as Priscilla's twin pansy.

timeskip to after dinner

Isabella yawns as she makes her way to the common room with rest of the Slytherins. "tired?" asks Theodore quietly slipping his arm around izzy laying her head gently against his arm as they walk on. "I was up early packing" she says rubbing her eyes. Theodore snuggles her head closer still as he sighs and whispers "I missed you izzy, summer isn't half as fun without you." this brings a smile to Isabella's face. "well its not my fault you went traipsing off to Germany and only sent me what? a letter a day?" she teases in mock horror. 

Theodore chuckles. "you know full well I would rather have stayed with you the entire summer but dad insisted we all go." 

"how are things between you and him now?" izzy asks softly so no one overhears. Theodore's relationship with his dad had become increasingly strained over the years as the latter's health took a toll on him making him more insufferable than ever.

"he's just the same, if not worse..I mean is that even possible at this point?" Theo whispers.

izzy quickly grabs a second arm around his waist reassuring him, knowing she can't comfort him when so many people could hear. Theo's relationship with his father had been a matter strictly between him and izzy. she was the only one he trusted enough to let in and she appreciated that.

they reach the common room as someone says the password and the huge door emblazoned with a portrait of Salazar Slytherin opens. 

the group collapses on couches around a table, all looking good enough for bed just as Maddy speaks up "truth or dare anybody?" usually a code for y'all-dont-have-a-choice

everyone knew better than to deny Maddy when she was on her candy high from the train's food.

Isabella knew it was gonna be a long night
