I slowly turned my head to look at PK as I processed the fact that she's an army General. PK was looking around her own room to take in the room with me, she was unaware of my revelation. I looked at her wide eyed as PK finally turned her head to take in my reaction to her room only to find me looking at her with shock.
With a tilt to PK's head she walked towards me and patted my shoulder to take me out of my state of shock. I blinked my eyes a few times before I grabbed onto PK's shoulder with my hands and shook her violently.
"You're a General?!" I exclaimed loudly as I kept shaking PK back and forth. She didn't seem to mind the overexaggerated action of me shaking her back and forth until she placed a hand over my hand, making me stop in my motions.
Once PK wasn't being shaken anymore she grabbed both of my wrists and took my hands off of her shoulders and placed them back to my sides carefully. I let my hands go limp by my sides as PK took a cautious step backwards to give herself some space between us.
Once PK had some space she nodded her head 'yes' to my question. I would like to ask her how she's a General even though she burned a city, but I stop myself remembering she couldn't speak because she burned herself while burning said city. My mouth opened and closed trying to find a way to word my question in a way that she could answer.
"How are you a General?" I decided to just ask simply and we could try to do charades for me to understand. I should take ASL lessons so conversing can be easier.
I looked at PK to see if she'd try to tell me with hand motions, but she walked away towards her nightstand that held the lamp and opened the drawer to look for something. PK was quick to pull out a pen, and a thick notebook that looks like it has been used a lot. PK crawled onto her bed and sat crisscrossed, she patted the spot in front of her while looking my way with notebook and pen in hand.
I walked and joined PK on her bed and sat crisscrossed just like her. The bed was soft just like my own in my new cell and the blankets were fluffy and smelt freshly cleaned. While I got myself comfortable on her bed, PK began to write something down in the notebook with her black inked pen. PK's hand worked fast as she wrote down on the paper. I tried to lean forward to get a peak at what she was writing but there was no need to as she turned the written paper towards my way.
I took the notebook into my hand to read the writing.
'I was a General before burning down that city. I spent 20 years in the army serving this corrupted country before I had committed any crimes. The day I burned that damn city was the day I was released from my duties and was sent to death row. This place allowed me to keep my title after experimenting on me and placing me in the guards unit.'
I hummed in acknowledgement as I read the neat written words on the paper. That clears up the title of General. It made sense why they kept her as well, a General that survived her experiments. I looked up to see PK laying her back on the headboard of the bed, her gaze laid on me searching for a negative reaction from me. I looked back down at the paper and I realized I don't know much of PK's back story. I handed the notebook back to PK as I spoke.
"What was your life before the army?" I asked as I placed my hand into my lap and gave PK my whole attention. PK seemed to be slightly taken back by the question but she started to write down something onto the paper anyways. PK's hands were slightly shaky as they wrote down the words. I watched as she turned the notebook to me and I took it out of her hands to read.
'Most of my life was spent in the army but I used to live in a small city with my parents. I graduated from my local highschool and I was on track to living a good life, but I couldn't afford college, so I joined the army to get my degree. I made some poor choices back then.'
