The Wings of Chaos

Firefly clutched the scroll against her chest. "Is it okay if I sneak home after you?" She questioned hopefully.

"Sunny would never let that happen" Queen Glory answered with a smile. Then her and Deathbringer flew off without her. 

"Love you too!" Firefly yelled after them.

She sighed. Then she headed in. "Hi Fatespeaker."

"Hey Firefly!" The enthusiastic NightWing flashed her teeth. "Hows it going?"

"Great." Firefly answered.

Fatespeaker handed her a scroll. "Also, Starflight wanted me to tell you that he has some scrolls saved for you. You're in the Gold Winglet, cave 9A."

Firefly flapped her wings as a goodbye and made her way to her cave.

Hello Firefly! Welcome to Jade Mountain Academy. You have today to explore, get settled in and make some friends! Tomorrow is your first class, and it is with Sunny. Her room is down the hall, to the left, to the right, then the left again.

You will be sharing a room with Flicker and Shiver. They are your clawmates. To the right of your cave is Auklet, Feather and Mink, who are not in your winglet. The boys are in another hallway.

On the other side of this paper is a map, with pointers and tips on what to do.

Flicker and Shiver. Shiver and Flicker. Cave 9A, Flicker, Shiver and Firefly. Okay. You got this Firefly. Just make some friends. Comet does it all the time. It can't be that hard.

In all of her thinking, Firefly ran into a giant, brown wall. "Hello Clay."

"Hey Firefly. How's it going?" The friendly MudWing said amiably.

"Good, I guess. I'm having trouble making friends." Firefly answered.

"Oh yeah? Who are your clawmates?"

"Flicker and Shiver" she recited. "An IceWing, a SandWing and a hybrid. I'm in the Gold Winglet"

"Hey! That's Ember's winglet." Clay nudged her shoulder in a friendly manner. "See ya later kid!"

Firefly watched him walk away and stop to chat with another nervous looking dragonet. The dragonet nodded and walked faster. Upon closer inspection, it was an IceWing.

"I'm Shiver. Um, Clay said you were in my winglet? I don't know maybe he got confused. I'm Shiver, by the way." She chattered anxiously.

"You've said that," Firefly pointed out kindly. She had never been the most confident dragon in a conversation. This was new.

"Oh, I'm sorry! I wanted to make a good first impression. Mother said that I get nervous, and then I start talking and I can't stop. Oh my gosh I'm doing it again. I'll stop now." The little IceWing fell silent.

"Yes, I'm Firefly." Firefly said.

Shiver beamed at that. "I heard we were in a cave with a SandWing. I've never met a SandWing before. They're almost the complete opposites of me. Isn't that crazy? Well. Either me or SeaWings. I LOVE the cold and SandWings HATE it, I think. They radiate heat and I radiate cold." 

Firefly smiled. She could learn to like this excited IceWing dragonet.
