Amon sprinted for his life as a horde of stunning demonesses pursued him, calling out for him to slow down so they could shower him with affection. These demonesses were succubi, intent on draining him of his vitality.
"What the hell is wrong with the Divine Palace's wave system? Suddenly unleashing a horde of succubi on me is just plain unfair!" Amon thought fiercely as he continued to run. He tried to repel the demonesses with magic, but it was pointless; succubi possessed a physiology that completely resisted magical attacks.
After summoning Amou and making her his familiar, Amon heeded the urgency of the situation. He explained his need to grow stronger and detailed how his skills functioned. Her interest was piqued; it was rare for a normal human to wield multiple special skills.
Entering the Divine Palace, Amon was met by the overly enthusiastic system, which congratulated him on his newfound strength and helped him get acquainted with Amou. Without wasting time, Amon called for the waves to begin. The first five waves consisted of undead creatures, and given their primary weakness to holy magic, Amon navigated through them effortlessly. However, after the fifth round, the difficulty surged dramatically, putting him in his current predicament.
Suddenly, Amou appeared out of nowhere and effortlessly vaporized the demonesses chasing him. "Master, how could you overlook something so simple? If magic isn't working, just use your skills," she said, a smirk on her face.
Amon's annoyance flared at her sarcastic remark, causing a vein to throb in his temple. "Haha, very funny. Your attempts to mock me are absolutely HILARIOUS," he retorted, rolling his eyes.
"Aw, not even a 'thank you' for being your saviour?" she teased, flashing him a cheeky smile.
"Fuck you," Amon shot back, turning away with irritation.
"Okay, when?~" Amou replied, her grin widening.
Realizing the implications of her words, Amon was suddenly flustered, cursing himself internally. Despite having watched countless meme videos in his previous life, he fell for one of the oldest tricks in the book.
"I apologize for interrupting this adorable moment, but the sixth wave has already commenced, and hordes of enemies are closing in on your location at an alarming pace," the Divine Palace's system announced.
The sudden pop-up caught Amon off guard, leading him to stumble on his feet. "I absolutely hate these pop-ups! They startle me every single time!"
As Amon regained his footing, he heard ominous footsteps approaching. They were light and agile, yet the mixed sense of killing intent sent a jolt of adrenaline through him. He was ready to face whatever came next.
A horde of goblins were headed in Amon's direction. But these goblins weren't normal but something far more dangerous, magic-wielding goblins. Goblins are naturally creatures of pure evil and they only exist to cast misery upon any unsuspecting soul that dare to cross paths with them. These creatures carry weapons forged out of stone and their intellect is animalistic. However, magic-wielding goblins are a different case. These goblins can cast magic and are far deadlier than regular goblins, as these creatures are smarter than their other brethren.
Amon cast an earth spell to create a wall of stone before him. He wanted to gauge the number of goblins to determine which spell would be the best to take those creatures out.
After the goblin horde had hit the stone wall before them, they started using several types of magic in an attempt to break it. The stone wall was slowly crumbling.
Amon took a similar stance as an archer, ready to strike an enemy from the arrow of his bow. "Lightning Arrow!" An arrow formed out of pure electricity tore through the hordes of goblins after the wall had crumbled.
"Not bad," Amou remarked calmly, a hint of appreciation in her tone. "You've shown impressive growth since the beginning of the waves, Master."
"It's incredible. A 10% increase in magium after each wave has made a significant difference. If I had faced these bastards in the first round, I wouldn't have been able to defeat them and would have had to rely on Amou for assistance," Amon internally reflected as he watched the burnt bodies of the goblins pixelating away.
