The Armed Detective Agency was its usual blend of chaos and productivity, though mostly chaos, if you asked Kunikida. Silver Wolf had been fiddling with a peculiar-looking gadget at her desk, her fingers moving deftly across its surface as sparks of inspiration flew through her mind. The device resembled a futuristic remote control, complete with flashing lights and an ominously large red button that practically screamed, "Don't press me!"

"Silver Wolf," Kunikida said sharply, glancing at her from across the room, his notebook snapping shut. "If you're going to tinker with your toys, do it after work hours. We have reports to finish."

"Relax," Silver Wolf replied, not even glancing up. Her tone was nonchalant, her focus unshaken as she connected a wire to a blinking circuit board. "This isn't a toy. It's a revolutionary device that could change the course of modern technology. Or at least it could, once I figure out what this one button does."

The Agency members exchanged wary glances, and Atsushi, who was passing by with a stack of files, paused to peer over her shoulder. His curiosity got the better of him as his golden eyes fixated on the large red button.

"Are you sure it's safe?" Atsushi asked, leaning in for a closer look.

Silver Wolf grinned mischievously. "Of course it's safe. Probably. Mostly. Okay, maybe not, but what's life without a little risk?"

Atsushi blinked nervously. That wasn't reassuring at all.

Just as he was about to back away, the inevitable happened. His finger brushed against the ominous red button, and before anyone could react, a loud BZZZT echoed through the room.

A brilliant flash of light engulfed Silver Wolf's desk, accompanied by a faint puff of smoke. When the light faded, the entire office froze in stunned silence.

Where Silver Wolf had been sitting moments ago, a sleek, silver-furred cat now stood on the desk, its tail flicking irritably and its grey eyes glaring daggers at Atsushi.

"Oh no," Atsushi whispered, his hands flying to his mouth. "I-I didn't mean to-"

The cat let out a low, menacing growl, which was eerily reminiscent of Silver Wolf's usual tone when someone interrupted her work. Kunikida, ever the professional, adjusted his glasses and spoke first.

"What. Just. Happened." His voice was calm, but the vein throbbing in his temple suggested he was anything but.

"That's... Silver Wolf?" Dazai said, barely suppressing his laughter. He crouched down to get a better look at the cat. "Oh, this is priceless! Look at those angry little ears! She's even more expressive now."

Silver Cat-formerly Silver Wolf-responded with an annoyed hiss, batting at Dazai's face with her paw.

"Ow!" Dazai yelped, though he was grinning. "She's feisty, just like the human version."

"This isn't funny!" Kunikida snapped, glaring at Dazai. "We need to fix this before the Director finds out."

Yosano, who had been observing from her desk, smirked and strolled over. "Oh, come on, Kunikida. This is hilarious. We should keep her like this for a while. She's adorable."

Silver Cat shot her a venomous glare, her tail lashing furiously.

"Wait," Ranpo interjected, holding up a finger while sucking on his lollipop. "Let me guess. That red button activated some kind of experimental transformation mechanism, right?"

The cat nodded vigorously, her silver fur bristling as she swiped at the now-smoking device on the desk.

"Great deduction, Ranpo-san," Atsushi said nervously, his eyes darting between the cat and the gadget. "But how do we fix it?"
