Y/n sat on the roof's ledge, eyes closed as she basked in the warm sun, thinking about what happened to Scott. Could we even call that progress? How are we supposed to do anything if we turn out to be a baby or our older selves? Wait, can we weaponize that and make Thanos a baby so we can just take—Y/n was in the middle of her thoughts when she heard the main door opening below her, followed by the sound of someone walking out. She leaned over the edge and saw that it was Steve.

She sensed how tense and worried he was after what happened to Scott earlier and wondered if she should say something now or give him some space first. Before she could decide, something in the distance seemed to have caught Steve's attention. Y/n followed his line of sight to see a sports car approaching fast, the engine rumbling loudly as its wheels squealed on the road. She dropped to the ground silently and hid behind one of the pillars as the car stopped beside Steve. It wasn't long before the driver got out, catching her off-guard. Tony?! What's he doing here?

Intrigued, Y/n stayed hidden as both men greeted each other, discussing what happened to Scott. Tony showed Steve a device he held in his hand, describing it as a 'fully functional space-time GPS'. Wait, does that mean he figured it out and the compound isn't going to be a nursery or a retirement home?! Oh shit! As excited as she was, Y/n stayed quiet, not wanting to disturb their conversation.

"We got a shot at getting these stones, but I gotta tell you my priorities. Bring back what we lost; I hope, yes. Keep what I found? Have to, at all costs. And," Tony stepped closer to Steve, "maybe not die trying, would be nice."

Y/n thought of Morgan and the drawing that she had shown her back at the cabin—an Ironman suit adorned with hearts and 'Dad' scribbled across. She remembered how proudly Pepper looked at Morgan; the way her heart bloomed when her little girl smiled up at her. She remembers what Tony felt when he introduced Morgan to her. This Tony was different. He had more to lose this time, but somehow, he was still willing to help them.

Steve nodded at Tony, extending a hand to him. "Sounds like a deal." They shook hands as they agreed to put their long-standing argument behind them.

Y/n flew up to the roof again, her head still spinning at what she just heard. Oh shit. Tony's back. Tony's fucking back! She kept herself together and headed to her room. The unmistakable burst of hope in her chest almost felt overwhelming, but what Tony said earlier about the risks he could take kept playing in the back of her mind. She knew they had to be more careful this time; they couldn't lose any more than they already had.

Wanda paced the cabin as she tried to keep up with her mind. The more she walked around, the more it raced. But she knew it would be worse if she just sat there, considering what steps she could take for the millionth time. I can't just barge in and take over. She's stronger now. Besides, I still need her to love me. To actually want me. I don't want her to push me away. This would be easier if you'd just listen, my love. If only you'd see what I'm trying to do for us!

Agitated and baffled at how helpless she felt, she let out a burst of her red magic. It decimated half of the cabin and spread over the grass, rushing towards the tree line as Wanda calmed herself down. I can't give up. I need to show her that I can make things right. That I can do better. I need her. She stood amongst the rubble and dust, massaging her head when she felt a headache encroaching—a result of her many sleepless nights. The cabin slowly became whole again around her and she got up to look for the book.

She skimmed through the pages looking for something, any detail that she might've missed, but she knew that was impossible. She had buried herself in it day and night to find a solution, figuring out if there were any loopholes she could use. As always, the pages told her what she already knew. She could either somehow convince Y/n to go to her willingly or get Y/n to forget everything. An empty slate, but that could pose its own risks.
