Chapter Eight - Sierra Coal

     I haul my final box into the back of Ratchet, sliding it in a secure position. It took two hours just to pack my work files and personal books, and I don't even know how I brought them all to Egypt.

Lightly tapping Ratchet's hood I say, 'Thank you for this, Ratchet. I really need the help, also I-' Then was suddenly cut myself off as Eliza yelled my name behind me and I turn as she began running toward me, her hair swaying in the air with each step. I hear the sound of Ratchet groan impatiently and I couldn't help but chuckle.

'I thought you were dead,' she flung her arms around me, tightly, tears pricking at her eyes. I went stiff in her embrace and laughed as she said, 'I thought he put you in a ditch somewhere! Where have you been?'

I told Eliza about Richard and I's real relationship a few months ago, she was furious then, I think she still is though. When I first met, Eliza uses to work in the medical system in Afghanistan, now she works with me. I go to her when Richard lost his patience, she covered me through the military because the number of times I was at the ER became staggering, she helped me with the bruises and cuts more than once. For that I can't repay her enough.

'I've...been working someplace else for the time being,' she raised an eyebrow at the boxes behind me, but didn't question the lie. I hate lying to her because everything just comes so easy with her, but this is a lie I have to keep, 'I have to work late nights for a while so I'm just moving to the room they provided.' I let out an awkward laugh and Eliza nodded her head, a questioning expression washed over her features but disappeared in seconds.

I shut Ratchet's boot, 'Can I help with anything?', she asked, staring at the boxes inside, her eyes were wide with interest.

Panic taking over I blurted, 'Nonono, its fine, I've got it handled!'

'Okay...' she says, giving me a skeptical glance. 'I was wondering if you wanted to get those drinks we talked about? We can go to that place in Alexandria,' she put her hands in the air, startling me slightly. 'I booked us a table in the private area, and its free tonight only. It's their grand opening!' She jumps excitedly and I stumble back

Before I could object, she looked at me with puppy-dog eyes. Bitch knows how to get people to say yes. Groaning I accepted and earning myself a little jump from Eliza, 'See you at 1900 hours by the chopper. It opens at eight-oh, and by the way. It's a girls night out so...'

I put my hand up, 'Yeah I figured as much.' I shook my head, I hate the other wives, they're so...'See you at seven.'...annoying. I said flatly as Eliza walked away.

Sighing I opened the driver's door and sat on the chair, clucking the engine on. 'You seem tense.' I jumped at the sound of Ratchet's voice. 

'Fuck, Ratchet,' I laughed, 'you scared shitless!' he laughed at my comment then I asked, the movement costarring the windows, 'Do you want to drive?' I sat back and felt the seat belt wrap around my torso. The van began to move, 'I've seen how you drive.'
I chuckled at his words. 'Yes,' I said, 'I think it would be best for you to drive.'

     Three long hours later, empty boxes are piled into the corner of my new room. I still had five boxes full of books that I just could not be bothered to open. 

For the girl's night, I had just unpacked a short red dress and dug out a pair of gold heels to go with it. I laid them out onto the bed and gripped a small gold purse.

I went for a shower, dried my hair and curled it. Normally Richard never allows me to indulge Eliza's girls night, but he isn't here to tell me otherwise. Curling my lashes, thinking about how far the club was away, and if Eliza remembered her past questions, about a...lover.

I laughed at the thought. Pulling on my dress, I realized how revealing it actually was. It was a Christmas gift from Eliza last year, to say it hugged every curve would be an understatement, and I didn't have enough time to find a new outfit.

The dress itself was beautiful, and I could help but smile looking into the mirror. I felt, not only pretty, but sexy and it gave me some much-needed confidence. I grabbed my heels and strapped them on, gripping my purse and keys, I walked towards the door.

The apartment itself was amazing, there was a small double bed in the corner, a chest of drawers at the base of the bed and a small washroom. It had a bath and shower, which made me feel like royalty. On base you get simple facilities, shower, washbasin, and toilet. But I had my own hand towels here.

Laughing to myself, I pulled open the door into the elevator. Shutting the door behind me and inserting the keys. Then made my way into the elevator and pressed a few buttons. Before I knew it, the doors shut and the elevator flew upwards to the surface.

The elevator doors opened and I hear a whistle of approval from someone in front of me. 

I turn, stone-faced, to see Bumblebee staring down at me, his eyes in some sort of trance. The radio chimes and it draws the rest of the Autobots' attention. 'You look so...womanly!' 

I raise my eyes at his...compliment? Ratchet told me that Bee was the youngest out of the group and often didn't understand certain things, so I just smiled at him. Accepting his words, his words scratchy he then asked , 'Where are...you going?'

'A club in Alexandria,' I pause, shoving my new keys in the purse, 'for girls' night out.'

I looked around, everyone was there. Except Optimus. I see Ratchet's eyes move across my figure, he notices my stare and practically drags himself back to the computer whispering something to himself.

Bee watched me walk to the hangar door sending me away with a cute wave, but I noticed that Ratchet gaze didn't leave me as I left. He was glowing eyes filled with either judgement or attraction, and I'm guessing it wasn't the latter.
