Scholarship

I've wrote scholarships since I was in 6th grade, so I figured that I might share one of my old ones. PLEASE DO NOT COPY THIS, I WORKED REALLY HARD ON IT AND IT IS DIRECT PLAGERISM!!! Btw, I think the prompt was something that sets us apart from others.

A special attribute that sets me apart from others is my affinity for learning. I've always enjoyed learning and being taught new things, whether school related or an extracurricular. I've been told that I learn quickly, and I credit it to some of the more simple things, such as learning to read and write.

I learned to read at a very young age, and continued to apply it to my school work from then on. I still very much enjoy reading, and my favorite part of reading is how it transports you to a whole new world, a completely unique place you get to discover for the first time. I enjoy rereading for the same reason, it allows me to notice the details I originally missed while reading it the first time. I read during my free time and feel as though it's helped me in all sorts of areas and subjects in school, such as expanding my vocabulary, and it's also helped me in non-educational subjects, such as the rather odd knowledge I've learned about sports and animals.

I believe my love of reading directly correlates with what I would like to in the future as a career. When I am older, I would like to become a book editor, to help future authors perfect their works. Though I originally thought I would like to become an author, I decided I didn't really have the inspiration or talent to write books. However, I consider myself to be quite qualified for pointing out small imperfections or areas that could be improved in writing pieces. I've put lots of thought into this, and I believe that I would truly enjoy this job.

I was actually recognized by my school and have won awards for my reading capabilities in fourth, fifth, and sixth grade. I had read the most words of any kid in my school, and been tested on each book I would read to verify I had actually read them. I have also helped my school librarian vote on the next year's winners of the Missouri Mark Twain Award, an award given for the best books of that year. I really enjoyed helping out with this award, and found it quite nice to help my librarian out with the elimination process.

I truly think reading has shaped who I am today, and that I might be a very different person without it. It's influenced how I perceive the world around me, how I react, and most importantly, how I act. It's taught me patience, open-mindedness, courage, and tenacity. I feel as though these qualities are of utmost importance in the world we live in today, especially with the seemingly constant state of turmoil our world seems to have become desensitized to. I apply these traits daily, to both academic and personal matters, and I genuinely credit what I've been able to accomplish and learn throughout my life partially to these specific qualities.

In conclusion, my love of reading has inspired me, and shaped my life in so many different ways. I could not have done what I have today without reading, and I'm eternally grateful to both my family and my teachers for encouraging my interest in reading my entire life.

HELP IM CRINGING SO BAD READING THIS. I REMEMBER WRITING THIS AND THINKING IT WAS REALLY GOOD BACK IN 6TH GRADE AND NOW IM REALLY EMBARASSED BY IT, BUT ALSO SOMEWHAT PROUD??
