That was one of the most eventful, tearful and just utterly shittiest weekends the girls and I have ever experienced. Biscuit has officially become the support animal for all of us, mostly for Ysabelle who has been bed rotting for the past two days or so - she didn't even go to her classes today.
Hunter has been a bit more lenient with my classes as well - he even lets me head to the cafe when my final class is over and waits for me to message him to come pick me up.
With that, I insisted I'd pick Ysabelle up an apple danish pastry and an iced matcha on the way home which she is now hooked on all because of yours truly. Granted it took her a few tries to get past the sage green colour before she even tried it - she said some shit along the lines of 'drinks should not be that colour'.
I completely disagree - the cuter the colour, the better the drink.
Well, I used to believe that until I tried a taro smoothie because of its purple colour and instantly regretted it. Now, I just stick to my matcha or my overly sweet iced lattes.
As if on cue, the waitress waltzes up towards the table I'm seated at with my iced matcha in her hand, gently placing it on the table in front of me.
"Thanks." I smile.
She nods, returning the smile before she whirls around, heading back towards the front counter.
I'm just about to take a sip before I hear my name being called by a voice all too familiar.
"Evelyn?" Xavier calls out as I pull the straw away from my mouth and look up in front of me, watching Xavier saunter over towards me.
"Hey." He smiles sweetly, stopping just in front of the table, his hand resting on the strap of his backpack. "What are you doing here?"
"Treating myself." I say, returning the smile. "Had a rough weekend."
"Yeah, fucking tell me about it." He scoffs, tilting his head towards the empty seat opposite me. "Can I join you?"
"Yeah, of course." I reply, suddenly curious as to why his weekend was also shit.
Xavier slides the chair out, dropping his bag at his feet on the floor as he takes a seat opposite me, letting out a long sigh.
"You want to talk about?" I pry, picking up my drink to take a sip.
He runs a hand over his mouth, leaning back in his seat as if he's trying to find the right words.
"Everything okay with Ava?" I ask, trying to sound like I've got no clue that they're actually broken up.
"Who knows." He shrugs, almost carelessly. "A lot of things have changed with her since the accident."
"Well, yeah." I chuckle, placing my cup back down on the table. "You lost your memories."
"I know but.." He says, trailing off as he looks around and rubs a hand on the back of his neck. "I just.. I don't think I'm capable of feeling what she feels for me."
"Why's that?" I reply, twirling the straw in my drink. "Ava is quite easy to love. She's sweet and passionate, granted she can be a bit of a drama queen sometimes but she's been very patient with you."
He remains silent for a minute, his gaze locked on mine as if he's searching for something.
Almost like he's searching for a sign..
