Jungkook's heart skipped a beat, he could feel every thump in his heart as she walked closer to him. It had been a long time since he saw her last time, but his feelings for her had never changed. Or maybe he never wanted to get over her.
She looked more dull now, as if she was barely holding on, Dohyun seemed to get occupied with Lily, his daughter. He was a single parent.
No, he didn't marry, he never found love again, he had only loved her, since college, but he could never have her, so he just lived with the pain that came with unrequited love.
But he did try dating, hoping it would distract him from his pain, mindless one night stands, until one day, the girl he had hooked up with at the bar, came and mentioned she was pregnant, she wanted to abort it but Jungkook begged her to just give birth to Lily and give her to him and he would never bother her.
He was very lonely, Lily brightened his life, he didn't feel pain compared to the days when he would cry to sleep with the reality that he would never be able to have the one woman he loved, ever.
"Hey." He breathed out as he gulped. Even when she looked dull, she still carried that grace and modesty, her eyes soft and kind. She shortly smiled and nodded in acknowledgement."We never crossed paths again." He said with a mixture of hurt and longing before he looked at Dohyun, he had heard about Dohyun, his daughter liked him but he never thought Dohyun would lead him to the one woman, he had been dying to meet again.
"Mama, can we go have fried chicken? It's windy." Dohyun asked with hope. Before Y/n could say anything.
"Good idea. My treat." He said standing up. He wasn't going to lose the chance of being with Y/n again. Y/n seemed hesitant, almost scared as she looked around as they walked."So? Umm......Taehyung, busy these days?" He tried to know what was the reason behind her depressive aura now. She nodded."Dohyun is a nice guy, Lily always talks greatly of him. How he helps others and is always so sweet and caring. You did a great job although I never heard about you having a son." He said. Ofcourse he didn't, she had no friends now, no one she talked to while Jungkook would keep indirectly asking their college classmates about her frequently, in case they knew anything about her.
"Umm.....Dohyun is not my biological son but he is like one." She told him and he nodded trying not to look surprised."He is Taehyung's nephew. So he is family only. His parents died when he was just three so I brought him home." She told the story.
Jungkook had always imagined how he would talk to her if he met her again but now, it was all awkward, so many things he wanted to say but couldn't.
"I am a single parent. Lily's mom is out of the picture. She didn't want Lily but I just knew I had to nurture her once I heard the news, so I offered to take full custody and she could go to a different country and start a new life and no one would know she had a daughter." He told her looking at his daughter who was walking ahead of them talking and smiling with Dohyun who chattered with her in ease.
"That must be hard." She said with understanding.
"Oh, it wasn't. Infact Lily's presence did put me at ease. My life turned stable, less painful and lonely." He said smiling at Y/n.
"Lonely? You never married again?" She asked thinking he was married to Lily's mom once in his life.
"No, never did. I have been single and charming all along." He joked hiding the years of pain he felt with the thought of being single, of not being married to her, of her being married to someone else, being in someone else's arms. She frowned.
"Why? You are a nice person, I supposed you must have married months after college." She was surprised. He shrugged.
"The thought of being with some other woman, kind of irks me." He said putting his hands in his pocket, he really wanted to hold hands with her and it was uncontrollable now.
