"Alright, Parsa, I've only got an hour or so before I have to head out, so let's try this one last time, yeah?" The older man's voice was firm but calm, carrying the weight of countless battles fought. His sleek, black, modernized Saiyan armor was a stark contrast to the standard-issue one he wore in his youth.
Parsa nodded, the younger Saiyan's face now filled with complete and utter determination. Clenching his fist, and planting both feet firmly into the ground below, he began to channel his energy. "Today is the day..." Parsa thought to himself as his muscles tensed, "Today... is... the day." He began to grit his teeth, he wouldn't fail, not again. The ground around him began to shake ever so slightly as small rocks and pebbles started to levitate around him. Suddenly, a small burst of energy shrouded him, which in turn caused a large breeze to start kicking up dust. "Today is the day, I become a Super Saiyan!" Parsa screamed as he pushed his energy to the limit, his aura flaring brighter. The ground beneath him cracked, and the wind howled violently in response to the power he was forcing out. His muscles trembled, his tail twitched, his veins bulging on his forehead as his entire body strained to break through the barrier that had eluded him for so long.
"Come on! Come on! Come on!" Parsa growled. His mentor watched on with his arms crossed. However, if the look on his face was any indication, then this session of theirs had already come to a foregone conclusion. With one final, agonized roar, Parsa's energy flared up one last time before sputtering out. The energy that had once surged around him quickly dissipated, leaving him drenched in sweat and gasping for breath as he fell onto his back.
Huff, huff, huff.
The only sound was Parsa's heavy breathing as he lay sprawled on the ground, his energy all but completely spent. The pink and yellow sky above seemed distant and untroubled. A small group of Saiyan pods soared through the sky, leaving their home planet. A set of footsteps could be heard as Parsa's mentor walked up to him, offering the younger Saiyan a hand, to which he hesitated to accept, "I... huff... I don't get it... huff... I've been training non-stop, but..."
The older Saiyan smiled.
"But sometimes, the harder you push, the harder it is to break through. Is that it?" He finished. Parsa frowned as he accepted his mentor's hand, sighing as he stood, "Yeah, that's about the gist of it. For what it's worth, I appreciate all the effort you've put into training me Mister Cabba." Parsa replied
Cabba placed a hand on the younger Saiyan's shoulder, "Hey now, don't sound so down in the dumps alright? You'll reach Super Saiyan in no time. You just have to keep at it." Parsa nodded, though the uncertainty was evident in his body language. "Are you sure about that Mister Cabba?" Parsa asked as he looked up at his mentor, eyes filled with hope, "Can the weakest Saiyan in recorded history, really become a Super Saiyan?" Cabba opened his mouth to reply, but before he could...
Beep, Beep, Beep!
A device began to blare in his pocket, signaling that he and Parsa's time here would have to end a bit earlier than expected, and as if on cue, another Saiyan would make their presence known, floating in mid-air as he called down to his squad leader. "Hey Cabba! It's time to go! HQ wants this thing handled asap! Whatever it is seems pretty serious too!" the man shouted. Cabba cursed and turned back to face Parsa as he began to levitate away from his pupil. "If you believe yourself to be weak, then you'll remain weak. Try adopting a more confident view of yourself. You've got potential alright? Wish I could explain further but, duty calls." Cabba's words hung in the air as Parsa watched him take his leave, his expression a mixture of urgency and concern.
