The silence in the room is profound, interrupted only by the persistent tapping of my pen against the wooden surface of my desk.

Each tap echoes in the quiet, blending with the soft tick of the clock's hands and the faint hum of my air conditioner.

The world outside seems distant, as if it has slipped away, leaving me alone with the weight of waiting.

I find myself repeatedly picking up my phone, scanning the screen, hoping for the smallest sign that the message I sent has been answered.

With every passing second, the anticipation tightens like a coil in my chest.

My heartbeat is unrelenting, a loud drumbeat that refuses to settle.

Time seems to stretch in strange ways—what should be a minute drags on like an hour, what should be an hour lingers like a day, and every day becomes an endless month.

Seven days.

It's only been three days, yet it feels like I've been suspended in this limbo for months.

One month passes, and it feels like a year has gone by.

"Fuck it! Bakit ba ako naghihintay ng reply?" Pag taas ng boses ko, I slammed my phone down at sumandal sa swivel chair ko.

I, then, scoffed and started to feel like a fool, napahilot tuloy ako ng sintido dahil sa pananakit ng ulo ko.

"Ako? Maghihintay ng chats niya? Tsk! Hindi naman ako itong nakasakit. Dapat siya nga ang nahihintay ng chats ko e. I let her use me for heart entertainment. Haha!" Peke kong tawa saka sinampal ang sarili nang mapagtanto na nagsasalita na pala ako mag isa.

Umayos naman ako ng upo.

Tumingin sa phone kong samsung fold saka inangat ng konti para makita iyong screen.

No reply...

"Tsk! Edi no reply-"

"Dr Athena-oh god!!" Hindi sinasadyang naihagis ko ang phone ko sa taong bigla na lang pumasok sa aking clinic, mabuti nalang at si Laura lamang ito at nasalo pa niya.

"Jesus Christ, Laura. Knock before you enter!" Reklamo ko, nag apologize naman siya at hinagis pabalik ang phone ko na nasalo ko rin naman.

"Ano bang meron at hindi kana naka-katok?" Tanong ko pa saka sumilip muli sa phone ko for the last time.

"Good news po, nandyan po sa labas si Ms Ynarez, may schedule po siya with Dr Brent right- oh god!!" Hindi ko na siya pinatapos dahil sa pag banggit pa lang niya ng pangalan ng batang iyon ay tumayo na ako.
