Finding Safety

Mykiel laughed and communicated with Lucifer telepathically. "Odin, does she know?"

Lucifer responded back. "No and I want to keep it that way. Also, keep an eye on her while I go find the family."

Mykiel nodded a d looked at Caelynn's face as it turned red. He took a step back. Lucifer went and tapped his nose to her knee. She looked at Mykiel.

"Do you know what this message is about?" she asked just above a whisper.

Mykiel looked at her. "No, I don't. I was not allowed to know. You know the boss."

Caelynn stood and paced. "Manen am ni supposed ana assassinate sina person. So's alreadime firina." (How am I supposed to assassinate this person. He's already dead.)

Mykiel looked at her. He understood every word she said. "Who?"

Caelynn's eyes turned dark gold. "Varis Sildarian." She seethed his name.

Lucifer stiffened at the name but didn't say anything. Caelynn's hands started to glow red. Mykiel stepped back and looked at her. lucifer stood and walked to her.

He sat before her. "Lynnie, you need to calm down."

Caelynn looked at him. "What did you call me?"

Lucifer swallowed nervously. "I called you Lynnie."

Caelynn smiled. "I like that. Mykiel if you call me that , you are dead."

Mykiel lifted his hands in surrender. "Message received."

Lucifer nudged Caelynn's hand that was still glowing red. She calmed down a bit more and sighed. Her eyes turned back to blue and she leaned against Lucifer. Mykiel took that opportunity to leave the two. He knew it was hard for Odin to reveal himself to his fiancée, but it was for the best.

"Lynnie, I have to leave you," Lucifer said. "My family needs me to go home for a bit."

Caelynn looked at him with sadness in her eyes. "Will I see you again, Shadow?"

Lucifer leaned up and licked her face causing Caelynn to giggle. How he missed that giggle. "Yes dear. I promise to find you again." He sighed. "If something happens, find Mykiel. He'll keep you safe."

Caelynn took a step back and whispered, not trusting her voice. "Alright Shadow."

Lucifer turned and disappeared into the woods leaving Caelynn by the lake. Caelynn sat down and listened to the wind through the trees.

Inner voice-He'll be back, dear one.

Caelynn was shocked to hear a voice that wasn't Saphira's. "Who are you?"

Inner voice- my name is Estrella. I am your wolf and Lucifer's mate.

Caelynn shook her head. "You must be mistaken. I don't have a wolf. Charlie and Thia do."

Estrella barked out a laugh. "Oh dear. So much has been shielded from you. Most of it for your own protection."

Caelynn sighed. "I figured." She stood, put on her armor, grabbed her bag and headed to find the assassin leader.

FLASHBACK

Lucien watched from the window of his office as a young she-elf entered the vicinity of the guild. He marveled at how she got close without being seen. She just walked right up to the guild as if it was a natural thing. Lucien stood, walked out of his office to see the she-elf enter. The entire guild went quiet as she walked up to the bar to inquire about a job. Laughter ensued throughout the guild.
