Thankfully nobody did walk in on the sight of Macy curled up in John Marston's arms. The next day the gang packed up all of their belongings and headed off to find a new hideout. And Arthur; with help managed to find a place. A place called Clemens Point and it only took them a full day to get everything unpacked and moved in.
So, the next morning when the sun was rising in the sky and birds chirping Abigail left her tent wondering where Macy had went; having not spoken to her since the day before. She got a gut feeling to check inside John's tent as she was walking by, she wasn't stupid she saw the not so subtle looks he gave Macy. Abigail knew he had to have some type of feelings for the younger girl. And surprisingly...she wasn't upset. Sure she loved John but if he didn't reciprocate those feelings then she wouldn't force him to be with her.
Abigail took a deep breath before pushing aside the canvas and peering inside. There on his cot were John and Macy. Macy was curled up into his chest as his arms were wrapped tightly around her, and she didn't miss the way John held a peaceful look on his face so Abigail gave a small smile and stepped back letting the canvas fall closed. She didn't want to disturb the two seeing the way they slept so peacefully. And in this life you can't always get that. She wandered off to find a chore to keep her busy until the younger girl awoke. Clemens Point was a beautiful place and she enjoyed it.
An hour or so later Macy began to stir awake. She tried rolling over but felt a heavy weight around her waist, and she glanced back and saw a sleeping John; whose arms were wrapped protectively around her waist. And it all came flooding back to her, them moving from Horseshoe Overlook to this new place. Her staying up with John as soon as they were all settled. And then them falling asleep—together...again for the second time. They didn't do anything, just talked and enjoyed each others company. Macy quickly slipped out of the man's hold and stood to her feet, brushing her fingers through her tangled hair.
As soon as she stepped out of John's tent she ran into her brother, Arthur staring at her with a suspicious look as he questioned what she was doing. What the hell was she supposed to tell him?! "Macy!"Abigail exclaimed as she approached the two, "did you find that thing I sent you for inside John's tent?" When Arthur wasn't looking Abigail shot her a wink and Macy gave her a thankful smile. "Uh—yeah I did." Arthur looked between the two with that same suspicious look but shook his head and walked away muttering something about his sister acting strange.
"Thank you!"Macy exclaimed as she pulled Abigail into a hug. "Of course."she replied returning the warm embrace. "I saw you two."she added when they pulled away, and Macys heart dropped to her stomach. "Abby—"Macy tried explaining but Abigail cut her off telling her that she didn't care. She knew John wasn't in love with her and that as long as he was there for Jack she didn't care whom he ended up with. "I-I don't know how I feel about him."Macy admitted with a sad look on her face, was she sweet on John?
Abigail gave her arm a reassuring squeeze and motioned towards hers and Jacks tent so they could talk in private. "I understand if you do Mace."Abigail said as she untied the canvas and letting it fall closed. Macy just sighed as she took a seat on the other woman's cot. "Yeah and that's why I could never be involved like that with John. I love you Abby—you're like a sister to me and I could never be with the father of your child."
Abigail's heart warmed at what Macy told her, she felt the same way. Her and Macy were close, ever since Abigail joined the gang. Being an ex prostitute, Macy never once judged her just welcomed her with open arms. "Oh Macy I feel the same way but I will not stand in the way of your happiness nor John's. Yall are two people I care about most, and so does Jack. If you ever change your mind Macy, I'm behind you one hundred percent."
They shared another hug, both women feeling lucky to have each other. Macy loved Arthur to death but there were some things she just couldn't talk about with her brother. And she was happy to have Abigail...she just wasn't sure where her feelings with John stood. She was conflicted; her mind told her one thing but her heart said another. She knew how John felt about her...sure she was oblivious before but it all started making sense. What the hell was she supposed to do?
_____________
It happened a few days later when Macy joined John out on a job, both not wanting to bother Arthur with what they were doing. The 36 year old had too much to deal with as it was. John heard of a homestead that was vacant for the time being just outside of Valentine. The family who was occupying it was heading to New York for awhile.
"So—how did you hear about this again?"Macy's voice floated through the thick summer air as the two rode side by side. They hadn't spoken about their earlier conversation. About John being sweet on the 20 year old...Macy just wasn't sure what to feel. John and Arthur were like brothers...even if Arthur denied it. That man was stubborn as hell.
John shrugged as he glanced over his shoulder behind them before answering, "overheard some folks talking about it while I was in town doing some stuff for Dutch." Macy had an uneasy feeling settle in her stomach the closer the pair got to the homestead they were planning on robbing. It didn't take much longer for the two to arrive to the homestead.
It looked slightly run down, the whole place was chipping away, the front steps were broken and some were missing, the windows were broken and the front door also looked to be slightly open and looked to broken. The sight made Macy feel slightly nauseous.
"John are you sure about this?"
