Today was just as tiring as any other day.

It was midnight. I laid on my stomach. For some reason, I couldn't sleep.

There was just this...odd feeling in my gut.

I don't know what it's about.

But, I had to get my act up. Tomorrow was some 'special day', according to my parents. It was probably some new person joining the Mafia team and shit. No, I'm not interested. Sometimes, honestly, I'm so done with all this Mafia shit. I can never go out, never gone to an actual school and stuff. But, yeah, I should be grateful for the money and shit. No wonder even my pajamas right now are worth millions.

My gaze flickered to the clock. 3:15 AM. Yeah, I need to get my act up. I need to sleep. I put my phone aside, sighing. I switched my position to a more comfortable one, my silk pajamas and the duvet coming together, making a rustling sound. I covered myself up, closing my eyes.

15 minutes go by. I kept on tossing and turning. Why couldn't I sleep?!

"Ugh..." I groaned, annoyed.

Eventually, my mind went elsewhere, leading me a sweet slumber. I slept like a little baby. Totally.

There was the next day. It was about 8 AM or something. I could care less. Today was some special day. I already what it was.

And I was pretty much right.

I came downstairs, my Saint Laurent heels clicking against the floor. I wore a black tight mini dress. There stood a man in a suit. He was tall and muscular.

My parents introduce me to him.

"This is our daughter, Chanelle Evangline." My father speaks up in a firm tone. I give the new member a soft smile. He nods firmly. Didn't even smile back.

Yeah, yeah, we get it. You're trying to be professional.

I stood there, bored, as my parents explained the rules and stuff to the new Mafia member. My mother too stood there with a gentle look on her face.

Can we get over this already?! I'm pretty sure he knows everything now. My father just kept repeating the same thing. I swear, I remembered everything from A to Z. Fuck this 'special day.'

However, this man was making me...suspicious.

He barely listened to anything father was saying. I could tell his mind was elsewhere. What was this asshole thinking? Was he up to something? He kept nodding idly and it pissed me off. I wanted to punch his face.

"Got it, Sir." He says, giving a glance towards my direction.

What the hell?

Why is he looking at me?

I swear, this asshole is up to something.

"Perfect. You may go to Mister Calvin, he'll be your guide." My father spoke up. The man nodded and left, walking away like he ruled the world.

I turn to my parents. "Don't you think that guy is fishy?" I ask them, crossing my arms. My dad raises an eyebrow, frowning. "What?" He frowns. I roll my eyes. "He seems suspicious. He's definitely up to something." I say. Father's frown deepens. "Nothing's wrong with him, sweetheart. You're being delusional." He says. I almost gasp in disbelief at his fiery response. Why is he defending that asshole like he birthed him?

"Whatever." I say and walk upstairs. Usually, everything here went my way. I don't know why father was defending him. Mother looked up as I went upstairs, looking back to my father. Father sighs, pulling her close by the waist as they make their way to their business room or something.

I stalk back to my room, my heels clicking against the floor. "Gosh." I huff, rolling my eyes and crossing my arms. I crossed my long legs as I sat down on the corner of the bed, my posture straight.

What am I supposed to do now, gosh?

Suddenly, there was a knock on my door. "Come in." I spoke up. The maid enters, a smile smile on her face. "Miss Chanelle, breakfast is ready." She says. I nod with a smile. "Alright. I'll be there in a minute." I say. The maid nodded and turned, closing the door with a soft click. I sigh, getting up and walking downstairs.

As we sat on the huge dining table, my mother spoke up. "So, how's the day going so far?" She smiles, trying to strike up a conversation. Father looks at her. "It's good, darling." He smiles at her. She smiles back, chuckling. They both turn to me, expecting me to say something. I smile too, my affection for my family growing. "It's alright." I smile. They both smile as we continue conversing as we ate the delicious meal.

The day goes on like that. I decide to take a walk at the backyard. Suddenly, my eye caught the same man from before staring through the window. What the absolute fuck!? Can I curse him out?!

I was so weirded out. What the hell is his problem? He keeps on staring. I look at him with a sneer, annoyed.

Well. Whatever. I could care less.
