When you first met Nick. He was recovering from a traumatic event where he lost his friends and just barely made it out alive with his sister.
Nick had a rocky past and that night changed his perspective on everything.
When you met him, you saw how hard he was working to keep a stable job but you also knew that he wished he'd stayed in school.
So you applied him to your college. You knew he couldn't go back to his old one after being kicked out and losing his scholarship.
But you'd also like to think that maybe a fresh start would be better anyways!
After applying for him; a few weeks later, an acceptance letter came in!
He was shocked to say the least and you were a little worried that he'd be mad at you for crossing a line.
But instead he hugged you and thanked you profusely.
Upon starting at his new school, he tried out for the football team and to no surprise he got on!
That was a year ago.
Now you were in your third year of college while he was in a second.
Nick was definitely popular at the school thanks to being a star on his team.
Before Nick was on the team, you remember only visiting one game in your school's team lost 60 to 5... It was embarrassing and you never went to another game.
Nick turned that around though and was even recruited by the school to train his teammates. He even gets paid to do so!
He was able to quit his other job and focus solely on school and football and you couldn't have been happier for him!
You on the other hand were more of a loner.
You have looked for clubs to join but there wasn't one that sticked.
You weren't athletic enough for any team.
You weren't religious enough for those clubs
You weren't political or argumentative enough to be on any debate team.
You just went to your classes, got good grades, occasionally participated in group activities on campus and then on the weekends went to work.
You were happy though! You are proud that you even tried putting yourself out there and you still continue to do so when the opportunity arose.
But because of the difference between you and Nick, it felt like everyone was against you.
Nick was super handsome, every girl and even some boys wanted a taste of him.
You on the other hand... You're alright.
Nothing like Nick but what could you do?
You still thought you were cute and Nick thought you were sexy, what more could you need?
Your classmates didn't see it that way though. It was almost like they were stuck in high school with this mentality that someone like Nick should be with someone like a cheerleader.
Girls would even flirt with Nick in front of you but Nick was quick to shut that down.
But it only earned you glares on campus.
