"Y/N!!"
I heard my father yelling at me as I was frozen in place. I couldn't move, what was the point?
The world was ending. No matter how advanced technology had gotten, nothing could have predicted this...
In a matter of minutes, the thousands of years worth of progress humanity had created was gone. Forever.
Another shock wave knocked me over as yet another meteor hit the ground, my face coming in contact with the cold rocks. I felt my dads hands pick me up, and put me back on my feet. My vision was blurry from tears, and I could see he was trying not to cry as well.
How was he not crying? We just saw mother and Kuru just die. What was the point.
"WE CAN'T GIVE UP Y/N!! THERES STILL HOPE!!" He squeezed my hand tightly, sort of waking me up from my trance. I looked up at him and saw a green light illuminated his face, his eyes looked terrified with a gleam of hope. I turned to face what he was seeing and saw the small meteor that had just fallen hadn't broken down or exploded, but cracked perfectly down the middle. Inside was a bright green light, nothing like I had ever seen before.
I felt my dad tugging my hand as he started running towards the light, dragging me with him. I struggled to keep up, constantly almost tripping over rocks as my ears also kept ringing from the constant explosions. I looked around and saw a few other people, all running towards the light as well. 'They're probably discarding the light and attempting to take shelter...'
I always thought if the world ended id at least be crying heavily. Showing a lot of emotion. Caring about what happened to me. But it all seemed pointless as my father dragged me with him. As kids, me and my brother Kuru would constantly make up scenarios of what would happen if the world ended, if it was from aliens, to zombies, we covered it all. It just seemed like fun at the time, but now it was becoming a reality. And he was gone.
I felt my dad stop running and I accidentally hit his back, stumbling backwards after while his hand kept me from falling. "Y/n, listen to me. Go hide in the meteor, I need you to stay alive."
His words sounded serious, as he looked at me with determination in his eyes. "But you're coming to right?"
"I have to go help others Y/n." I felt my bottom lip begin to tremble as he lead me into the small meteor shell, completely ignoring the glowing green light coming from the center. 'What about the light...'
"You cant leave me here dad!! You cant leave me!! We don't even know if it's safe here... look at the light!!" I felt tears falling down my cheeks as he wiped them away with his finger and smiled bravely at me.
"Y/n. You're the strongest person I know. Promise me you will keep fighting for live no matter what ok?" I shook my head and squeezed his hand so tight I could feel my hands begin to hurt.
"N-no don't go dad..."
"Promise me Y/n." He looked around as more people entered and hid inside of the meteor, seeking safety from the chaos outside. "I have to go help others Y/n. Promise me."
"I promise." I barely was able to whisper while my whole body started shaking. This was to sudden. He couldn't go. He wouldn't come back. I would be alone. Forever.
He let go of my hands and hugged me tightly, as I held onto the ends of his ripped and burned jacket. "It'll be ok Y/n, everything's going to be ok." I felt him draw away and smile at me one last time before rushing out and leaving me there alone, in the meteor shell with an unknown light, shaking and scared.
A women who looked to be about 30 ran over to me, with a cut along her forehead. She looked stressed and confused, but also had the same look of determination as my father. "It's going to be ok sweaty, come stay with us over here." She grabbed my arm before I could even answer and dragged me over to a group of people all huddled in the corner. Everyone was covered in debris and blood, we had all most likely lost someone at this point, but this women wasn't giving up.
