"H-how are you staying so strong?" I looked up at her with a little admiration. Even in this horrific moment, she was still acting like this was just another day of life. With meteors.
"We're human. We have the will to fight and live. So I'll do everything in my power to make sure as many people as possible get through this." She smiled bravely at me, then rushed over to help new people who had just stumbled in from a crack.
I slumped against the hard bumpy edge of the meteor, letting the feeling of udder hopelessness consume me. I wanted to be with my dad. I wanted to feel brave. I wanted to help people. But I couldn't do anything I wanted to.
It felt like hours had passed with no sign of my dad. The occasional meteor falling, sending a shockwave that tossed us all around like a pebble in the ocean, followed by screams, blood, and death, while it repeated over and over again.
It felt like the gods were punishing us for every little thing we ever did wrong, torturing us and teasing us until we were broken or dead. The woman was still going strong, helping new people every now and then. She had managed to get around 50 people into this small meteor shell, and was still determined to help more. But for some reason, everyone was discarding the light. It was just there. A mysterious green orb in the center, just floating there. I didn't even care anymore though. My arms were cut and bloody, I was shaking uncontrollably, my head was throbbing like crazy, and my eyes were dry from crying and dust.
Another meteor hit the ground, sending another strong shockwave sending us all flying around. This time though, someone was flanged right into the light, and disappeared instantly. Half the people that witnessed it stared in shock, while others questioned what happened. Someone who looked like a walking corpse approached the light, and reached out a hand to touch it, disappearing instantly upon impact.
"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!?" I heard someone to my right scream and start banging their head repeatedly against the rock, blood spewing everywhere. I turned my head away in fear and disgust, not even trying to understand anything anymore. I looked up and saw the women, looking out of a crack, a horrified expression all across her face.
"IT'S A DEATH WAVE!!" She shrieked and everyone fell silent. Everyone knew what it was. A massive chain explosion of fire and gas was headed our way. Quickly. It would only be a few seconds of agony before we passed, which was better than doing this any longer in my opinion.
"The light..." A boy sitting beside me spoke up in a small voice, "It could save us." Everyone looked at him like he was insane, but I thought he could be up to something. "It took them away... what if we went to??" He instantly sprung up and ran towards the light with a look of udder desperation, and disappeared instantly.
"Hell, what else could go wrong from here." A man who looked to be in his forties stood up and walked towards the light, before touching it and disappearing like the rest.
"Fuck it." A boy who looked to be about 20, like me, stood up and followed the others as well. One by one, people began to walk over to the light, hoping for anything to happen besides death. Even the women, with hope and bravery, went through to the other side to who knows where. Only corpses and a few others stayed behind, while I remained firm on the ground.
"Y/n. Promise me you'll stay strong?"
I kept hearing my fathers voice. He was sure to be dead. Whats the point in living.
"I promise."
I promised him. I said id keep going. I promised him.
The least I could do was try.
Reluctantly, I stood up on my shaking legs and made my way towards what could be death, before reaching out and touching it.
I felt my whole body become warm, then I felt like I was drowning. My lungs screamed for air as I felt my whole body hit the ground with a thud, gasping for air. I instantly sat up, and took in my surroundings, which made me shiver.
If I thought the horrifying corpses in the meteor were bad, it was completely different here. Served heads, limbs, pools of blood, ripped clothing, it was everywhere.
'Hell, what else could go wrong from here.'
I saw the brave woman's body, limbs bent in places that shouldn't be possible, with her head turned a whole 180°, and eyes no longer in their sockets. I wanted to scream and run, run far away, but I couldn't move. My eyes wanted to look away but they couldn't. 'What happened here...'
"Oi look, another one." I heard a voice from behind me and quickly turned my head, only to see two clearly non-human beings covered in blood.
"I wonder why there are so many here... doesn't matter now." One of them lunged at me, so I looked away and squeezed my eyes shut tightly like it would help, but the pain never came. Shaking, I turned to look back in front of me to see another weird creature, covered in blue lines and white skin. He had a pink buzz cut, and was currently stepping on what appeared to have been the other creators body.
It slowly turned around and stared daggers at me, then he crouched down to my level, my whole body shaking with fear.
"Why are there so many of you?"
"And why I feel you're powerful...
But you're pathetically weak?"
