Hermione and Theo were walking down a small path from the cottage. She knew that there was a wizard's lunchroom nearby that had access to the floo network. She remained close to the tree line, pulling Theo along, not wanting to be seen. She had placed a disillusionment charm on them, but she still wanted to be careful.
'Would you remind me again why we just can't apparate?' asked Theo and Hermione immediately whirled around to face him. Theo apprehensively stepped backwards, his back crashing into a large oak.
'It can be tracked.' she said, eying him up and down. 'We're going to The Order's headquarters after all.'
Theo raised his eyebrows. 'So?' he said.
'You're denser than I thought,' she said, wrinkling her nose. Theo looked at her insulted, his mouth slightly ajar in shock. 'You're largely featured in Witch Weekly, kissing me in the photo for crying out loud. The entire wizarding world knows we're an item, this ultimately puts you in danger too. Don't you think they're watching you now too?'
Theo inhaled sharply as they continued walking. 'I see,' he said flatly. 'It seems I was careless.'
Hermione stopped and turned towards him again. 'You're not careless Theo.' she said, searching his face. 'That kiss was an accident, I should apologise to you instead.'
Theo sighed and looked away from her. 'You don't have to.' he said as he bashfully looked back at her. 'It's my fault anyway, Draco's right I shouldn't have teased you like that.' He was frightfully honest right now, something she wasn't used to.
'Malfoy can suck it.' she bristled. ' He doesn't own me .' Theo grinned and put his hands in his pockets as they continued walking. When they arrived at the entrance, Hermione pushed the door open. She discreetly removed the disillusionment charm from Theo and asked him to order them something to eat. She herself walked towards a table in the far back near the hearth.
The small lunchroom they were at was not wildly popular amongst the Cornish wizarding population. There were probably valid reasons why nobody wanted to eat here. It wasn't very hygienic, but Hermione had to come to terms with that for now. She thought it was smart to go about it this way, they wouldn't attract much attention, which meant it was probably safe.
When Theo walked back to their table with two bowls of brown soup she raised her eyebrows. 'Isn't there anyone to do that for you?' she whispered and Theo chuckled.
'Believe me, you don't want them to bring it to you. Frankly, I'm not sure if you should eat it at all. I peeked into the kitchen and it's disgust-'
'I know.' interrupted Hermione with a grimace as she took one of the bowls from him. She placed the charm back on him and sighed. 'I thought this would be the safest place as nobody ever comes here, due to.. hygiene .'
'I suppose that's clever.' he said with a sThey both took a spoonful of the brown soup and looked at each other expectantly. The soup was rather thick and Hermione slowly realised that it wasn't soup, it was stew . It tasted surprisingly good, even if the bowl itself was a little grimy. She pushed another spoonful in her mouth and tasted potatoes, onions and beef. It was a rather simple dish, but often the simplest things were the most delicious.
Theo hadn't looked away from her once as she ate, and he suddenly scrunched up his face distastefully.
'What?' she asked with her mouth full.
'I'm sorry I can't watch you eat like that.' muttered Theo as he aimed his wand at her bowl. With a quick spell both their bowls were transformed into fancy china, their spoons into fine silverware and the table was clean. 'There, that's better.'
